We have spent the latter half of 2019 shrouded in clouds of tear gas. We wear masks and even gas masks to show our defiance against the unelected government and the police state.
We have spent most days of 2020 in the midst of an omnipresent novel coronavirus. Ever since Lunar New Year up until Valentine's Day today, we still have to wear masks, even when we want to kiss our dearest ones.
Against all odds, the pro-democracy movement in Hong Kong will live on and the people of Hong Kong will continue the battle against authoritarianiam.
While thinking of your loved ones, never forget the protesters in Hong Kong fighting for human rights, democracy and freedom— no matter where you are from, we are all Hong Kongers.

Yesterday was the 19th, and the original time for bail hearing was around 3:30pm. In defence of their rights and freedom, many Hongkongers expressed their opposition toward the National Anthem Law and the National Security Law in protests on May 27, as the authorities continued to ignore the population's opinion.
Police arrested at least 396 civilians in multiple districts including Wan Chai, Causeway Bay, Shum Shui Po, Mongkok, Kwai Chung, Tsuen Wan and Yuen Long.
According to the police, there were 234 men and 162 women between 12 and 70 years old among the arrested. Police arrested 180 students from 60 schools, of which 80 were underaged.
At 12am on May 29, the familes and friends of the arrested were still waiting outside the North Point Police Station.

Football Fan Detained by Hong Kong Police for Inciting Independence After Exclaiming "Long Live Liverpool"
Mr. Wat was investigated by the police for 10 minutes. Although he was later let go, he expressed to reporters that he has been a fan of Liverpool football team for 30 years.
After knowing Liverpool won their first English Premier league, he was very excited. He met with other fans on the street after eating and "felt compelled" to exclaimed "Long Live Liverpool!".
Mr Wat did not understand why he was stopped, after the National Security Law took effect less than a day ago.

People always say the university is a miniature society; and even at the university, a free and fair election is impossible in Hong Kong.
On Feb 25, 2021, the management of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (#CUHK) accused the newly elected students' union #Syzygia of potentially breaching the #NationalSecurityLaw and cut tie with the student body.
Around midnight, the students told the press, their supporters, and fellow Hongkongers that they would uphold their stance as much as they can. They even apologize for not being able to carry out fully what they have promised owing to the University's oppression.
To all those with conscience, thank you for glowing in the dark to brighten our nights.

On March 1, 2021 in Hong Kong, over 200 citizens were queuing to attend the court hearing by 9am. 47 pro-democracy activists were charged with "conspiracy to subverting state powers".
Several police vehicles were deployed nearby, and officers set up cordon lines outside the court.
A number of pro-democracy activists who were involved in the case but not yet charged attended the hearing. These include Convener of Civil Human Rights Front Figo Chan, Chairman of Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China Lee Chuk-Yan, and former Democratic Party lawmaker Roy Kwong Chun-Yu.
Citizens held up banners that read, “release political prisoners”.

Yuen Long district councillor Ng Kin-wai, one of the 47 charged under national security law for taking part in last year's primary election, had his bail revoked today after the Department of Justice's appeal. Members of Tin Shui Wai Connection, of which he is the convener, attended the court hearing and spoke to media afterwards.
Fellow #TSWConnection member Lam Chun recounted that Ng had remained strong throughout the difficult time in custody. "Even though he may be facing a very long jail term," Lam said, "he hopes to see Hongkongers continue to stand up for their beliefs."
When Ng heard the judge revoking his bail, he called out to the citizens in attendance: "Stay strong, everyone! See you in 10 years!" He also shouted the group's slogans in call-and-answer fashion, to roaring replies from their members in attendance: "May my life be purified for the defense of our city!" "Citizens saving ourselves; break free from fate!"
Lam felt that these slogans aptly describe the path they had walked in this past year and a half. He urged Hongkongers to continue to pay attention to the court cases, both for the 47 and for activists arrested in other cases, so that none of them would feel left behind.

21 of #47Democrats detained on charges of subversion under the National Security Law appeared in the Western Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts on March 12 for bail hearing.
The Court upheld its decision to refuse bail to 11 of them, while 10 others withdrew their appeals.
A large group of supporters gathered outside the court to show support. Among them was Granny Wong who showed up with a British flag and a small umbrella, a symbol of the pro-democracy movement which also signifies “support and solidarity” to each fellow protester.
At the end of the hearing and when police vehicle was seen leaving the Court, Granny Wong ran into the cordoned area by Police and shouted, “Hang in there, fellow protesters. Victory to democracy.”
The 47 defendants were accused of conspiring to commit subversion by taking part in LegCo primary elections last year. Only five have been released on bail so far, pending their next hearing in late May.

Hundreds Gather in Toronto in Solidarity with HK, Decries 7.21 Police Collusion with Triads
A flashmob of over 200 gathered in Toronto on Sunday July 18 ahead of the two-year anniversary of the 7.21 Yuen Long attack, when a group of white-clad gangsters attacked citizens in Yuen Long MTR Station. Attendees called for support of press freedom in Hong Kong, and protested against the Hong Kong Police's collusion with triads, as highlighted by the events of 7.21.
The event was organized by the groups Toronto Association for Democracy in China, and Torontonians Stand with Hong Kong. Many attendees held up apples and copies of Apple Daily; others held up large banners of lyrics for "Glory to Hong Kong".
Jane, a spokesperson for Torontonians Stand with Hong Kong, said that while Canadians enjoy democracy, rights, and freedom at home, the same are being stripped away from Hong Kong every minute. Hongkongers who now live as immigrants in Canada should make use of their special identity and speak up on behalf of Hong Kong. She also called for Canadians to boycott Chinese products, as well as the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
