Folks, imagine that we launch the Asset Store, focused on the Godot Engine.

— What would you like to see in it as a customer, as assets? (That can't be on a free built in system)
— What can you upload there? (As an asset creator)

⚠️ To highlight some limitations: it will be commercial and it will not be under the FOSS license to make it valuable and worthy for creators.

Frostpunk 2 sales were lower than expected and 11 Bit Studios lost over 40% of its market value #Business #RTS #CityBuilder

Since it's a sequel, investors expected way higher initial sales and visibility, but media isn't interested in a hardcore City Builder. While true fans complained that FP2 is easier and system requirements are too high.

❄️ You can check out the game on Steam!

And you know the craziest part? They sold 350K copies during the first weekend. Their production costs are already covered. But investors wanted EVEN MORE.

And according to IGN, Space Marine 2 sales are so good, that Saber Interactive is hoping to make DLCs and probably a third installment for the series.

— It changed everything for the company! The game's budget was 2+ times lower than on Doom Eternal, for example, but the game already outperformed it... — Said Saber Interactive Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits.

Before that analytics said that it's the second best selling game in Europe this year (surpassed only by Helldivers 2).

Ubisoft gave up on Assassin's Creed Shadows — the game about Japan will not be shown on the Tokyo Game Show. It may be related to recent trailers where French company confused China and Japan.

Instead, there will be 90 minutes of Deaths Stranding 2 (and I'm not even joking).

Our daily awesome post about #GodotEngine:

SteamNetGodot

In it's core SteamNetGodot is the combination of Facepunch.Steamworks and LiteNetLib. A performant, easy to use C# Steam Networking library for the wonderful Godot engine.

It will be regularly updated since it's currently in use on our game Taverna.

Goodies

➡️ Compressed Steam VOIP
➡️ Smart matchmaking through Steam Lobbies / internal logic
➡️ RPC system
➡️ Very simple C# code
➡️ Bunch of cool networking code as example (replication, resource management, audio, kick, mute, ban...)

➡️ Open Source
➡️ Godot 4.3
➡️ MIT license

Finally: #Ubisoft delayed Assassin's Creed Shadows and openly admitted several interesting points:

— Delaying games on Steam is a bad strategy for commercial results — it's not getting them more money or more players, when you only release them in Ubisoft Connect and Epic Store
— Releasing unpolished games with mostly generic open worlds, like SW Outlaws and Avatar, is a guaranteed failure
— And also they rejected the service based core — the game will focus on a solid full experience and several worthy DLCs.

Nature is healing! 😁

Meta Quest 3s — a cheaper $300 version of Quest 3 with worse lenses and displays. If you remember the blurry peripheral vision in Quest 2, this cheaper one has exactly the same issue.

But for me the biggest doubt is still content: Half-Life Alyx is the best game ever. I've played it in VR and it was an exceptional experience. But there are just no games worth bothering anymore.

What do you think? Will you buy it for $299? #VR #Meta

It seems that #OpenAI is facing hard times: they just lost three more leads, including the CTO Mira Murati. Dozens of others left during the last year.

And people are questioning both — how or if will they become profitable and how they will overcome current AI limitations.

Tried out Unigine and it's worthy!

— Launches faster than Unreal or Unity, almost instantly on my hardware
— Fairly efficient on RAM and VRAM (not sure about build file size yet)
— Has very impressive tools to set up the environment (realistic sky, sun and moon, several layers of clouds, landscapes with 64-bit accuracy, etc)
— Models import supports instancing, vehicles, and some other features if they were properly set in your 3D editor
— Settings menu is a little odd and not comfortable (opens up in right panel, lacks some features)
— The default GI has temporal artifacts
— Async shaders are super fast but cause materials flickering in some cases
— Free for indies, affordable (royalty free, $1500/y) for businesses.
— Has C# and C++ support, works fast even with C# (but my scale is very small, can't say for bigger projects)

Totally gonna play around some more to figure out if artifacts and flickering can be fixed or lowered up to the point where I'm gonna like it.
