Тише едешь – дальше будешь.
[ ti-she ye-desh - dal'-she bu-desh]

SLT:
The quieter you go, the farther you'll get.

Meaning:
The less haste, the faster you will achieve your goals.

🔻It's an equivalent of English sayings "Slow and steady wins the race", "Longest way round is the shortest way home" and so on.

🔻There is a modern version of this old proverb:

Тише едешь - дальше будешь…от того места, куда едешь.
[ti-she ye-desh - dal'-she bu-desh ... at ta-vo mes-ta, ku-da ye-desh]
🇬🇧 The more slowly you go, the farther you will be ... from the place you are going to.

Снятие блокады Ленинграда
[snya-ti-ye bla-ka-dy le-nin-gra-da]
The lifting of the siege of Leningrad

🔻On January 27, 1944, as a result of the Leningrad-Novgorod strategic offensive operation, Nazi troops near Leningrad were defeated and the 872-day siege of the city was finally lifted.

🔻The siege of Leningrad lasted from September 8, 1941 to January 27, 1944 = more than 2 years!

🔻According to the Leningrad City Commission on the deliberate extermination of civilians of Leningrad by fascists and the damage caused to the economy and cultural and historical buildings, 107,158 high-explosive and incendiary bombs and over 150 thousand heavy artillery shells were dropped on the city.

🔻According to the sources, during the years of the siege, from 632,253 to 1.093 million people died.

Despite the monstrous hunger, Leningrad didn't bend the knee to the nazis. We'll never forget about its heroism, the cause and results of WW2.

Чушпан
  [chush-pan]

🔻Russian modern cinema has suddenly revived a word from the criminal world of the 80s.

🔻It appeared in a 2023 Russian crime drama television series "Слово пацана. Кровь на асфальте" (The Boy's Word: Blood on the Asphalt)

🔻Moreover, 'чушпан' was used back in the 30-50s in relation to those who first ended up in a labor prison.

🔻Later, ordinary people who were not involved in the criminal world and who lived outside gangs began to be disparagingly called this word.

Мыс Брюса
  [mys bru-sa]

Does it look like a Scandinavian landscape? No, it's Russia!

🔻Cape Bruce is one of the most picturesque places in Primorye, the Far East region of Russia.

🔻Precipitous cliffs are mostly vertical walls of basalt columns standing side by side like pencils in a glass.

🔻Above the tip of the cape, on a hill, there is the Bruce Lighthouse. Since 1911, the lighthouse has shown the way to seafarers.

🔻The name Cape Bruce appeared on Russian maps in 1865.

🔻According to one of the  versions, the cape was named in honour of Peter the First’s supporter Yakov Vilimovich Bruce - however, he also had Scottish rather than Russian roots and a different name at birth - James Daniel.
