Despite the successful efforts that have been made since the arrival of philosophy for children in Iran, the lack of Persian resources and content for this curriculum has always been a major challenge and concern for the organizers of this curriculum and the executors of its workshops. This concern led us to review and re-read the valuable treasure of Persian literature and ancient Iranian literature in order to look at this cultural capital from a new perspective and to acquaint Iranian children with their cultural and literary background. Molavi's Masnavi and Philosophy for Children is a step towards achieving this goal.
This book comprises 9 stories adopted from the stories of the third book of Molavi's Masnavi. The stories have been written in simple language for children and each story is along with the instructional guide for facilitators. It is recommended that facilitators read the story before entering the classroom and consider the possible questions with its special guide (including suggested ideas, discussion plan and practices) to accompany their students in philosophizing with more readiness and through anticipating and understanding the atmosphere of conversations and the probable discussion process.

Poopak and Porsandoo
A philosoohical story for children with instructional guide for facilitators

The story of this book takes place in two schools. The two schools have in common, the most important of which is Ms. Bayan and the fact that all children are in the first and second grades of elementary school. Each episode of the book has a separate story. Therefore, students may be a little confused at first Because they expect stories to continue as they did in the previous episode, according to the ordinary habit of story readers, but the story continues every time in other school. For example, episode 1 occurs in Poopak’ school which is a girls’ school, but episode 2 occurs in Porsandoo’ school which is a boys’ school. However, the theme of the story is the same. The significant point is that the story that happens in the boys’ school at the same time happens in the girls’ school and vice versa. Of course, our story does not narrate it.
Poopak and Porsandoo’s philosophical story has been written for 7-8-year-old students and to improve their educational and metal development. This book consists of 30 episodes and each episode has an instructinal guide to help educators and facilitators in teaching this book to children.

Porsandoo on the Road (1)

Porsandoo was walking on the road and thinking of her/his name that a crow came and asked her/him for the address of his nest, and then a fox, a sparrow and all who were on the road.
Porsandoo didn’t understand why everyone was asking her/him everything, while he/she knew nothing or at least thought he/she knew nothing. She/he only knew she/he was on the road…
There are two important concepts in this book: road and porsandoo. Road is a symbol of the world and porsandoo who is a symbol of a philosopher who seeks the truth of herself/himself and the world.

Porsandoo thought to herself/himself: Really, what question did I have?
He thought a little more and was surprised. It was as if she/he had remembered something. She/he wasn’t surprised to remembering something, but it was because she/he had understood what to think more…
Porsandoo, in the present book, thinks more deeply and knows herself/himself better. She/he sees herself/himself in the spring and touches her/his big eyes and long eyelashes. In this way, she/he acquaints herself/himself with her/his body.
