In the largest operation of its kind in modern history, Russia and the United States carried out a large-scale exchange of convicted prisoners in cooperation with Germany, Poland, Norway and Slovenia.

According to media reports, 26 prisoners were transferred from their prisons to return home, with 10 prisoners sent to Russia, 13 to Germany and 3 to the United States as part of the exchange that took place in Ankara.

This operation is unique, as neither veteran intelligence officers nor human rights activists remember an exchange of this magnitude before.

The exchange took place in complete media silence, as the media only became suspicious of the moves at the last moment, when everything was agreed upon and the planes were refueled to head to Turkey for the exchange, and many praised this professional work of the special services.
