[ saabrazit' na traikh ]
To knock off a bottle between the three (people)
🔻This expression is directly related to a Soviet faceted glass.
🔻The fact is that exactly 167 ml of vodka fits up to the rim of the glass - a third of a 0.5 liter bottle, which allows you to divide its content into THREE equal parts.

🇷🇺 Russian version by C

For my Christmas present
[mnogava ya ni khachu! o, da!]
I don't want much! Oh yeah!
[mne ni vazhna shto pad yolkay]
I don't care what under the tree
[ya f karobachke naydu]
I'll find in the box.
[fsyo a chom michtayu ya]
Everything I dream about
[ shtop ty palyubil minya]
is that you'll love me!
[ya prashu paymi]
I ask (you) to understand...

Christmas Eve
🔻In the Russian Empire, Christmas was celebrated at the state level.
🔻In the Soviet Union, until 1929, Christmas was a public holiday and a day off and was celebrated according to the Gregorian calendar, but after the weekends on religious holidays were abolished, most Christmas customs (like a fir tree and gifts) were transferred to the New Year celebration.
🔻Once again, Christmas Day became a day off in 1991.
🔻Nowadays Christmas is more a religious holiday, when Orthodox Сhristians go to church.
🔻However, this holiday is still loved by ordinary Russians. A quiet dinner with the family and visiting relatives are the most common ways of celebrating it.
