A few days ago a photo appeared in the Aviation Week magazine, published by Piotr Butowski.

This is the first public photo of the С-71 "Монохром".

The concept is really interesting, as it goes beyond the typical cruise missile, even of the latest generation.
As we know, earlier this year we had the first confirmation of combat use of the state of the art Kh-69 missile.

The Kh-69 is a really capable missile, while the Kh-59 is more an analogue of the Storm-Shadow/Scalp-EG.
The Ukrainians confirmed that it was Kh-69s launched from the internal weapons bay of a Su-57s that destroyed the thermal power plant in Kiev, completely unnoticed by the city's multiple air defences.

Both missiles can be internally loaded.

The new design goes beyond a cruise missile and that is why it is referred to as a UAV.

As we said (https://t.me/the_Right_People/31798) the object has a very powerful sensor suite and communicates with and is controlled by the Su-57 and command elements in the military network.

One of the interesting features is also its autonomy.

The autonomous vehicle is capable of engaging a wide range of targets, including targets of known type with unknown coordinates in a given search area at a considerable distance from the carrier aircraft. The vehicle independently decides whether to engage the target in accordance with the target database and the relevant target priority table, or the operator decides whether to engage the target.
Intelligence information on detected targets, telemetry information on the performance and location of the unmanned aerial vehicle, and video footage of the target before it is hit are transmitted to the ground control centre or airborne command post.
The drone does not require prior target designation.

The S-71 strike UAV reportedly exists in two modifications:
- The S-71K for external suspension on the aircraft, which means it can be used by 4th gen planes.
- The S-71M for suspension in the internal weapon bays of the Su-57 fighter and the S-70 Hunter strike UAV.

The S-71 has a trapezoidal fuselage for low visibility, a folding sweeping wing, V-shaped all-turn keels and a turbojet engine.
The fuselage layout is similar to that of the X-59MK2 and X-69 missiles and has a square cross-section adapted to fit into 5th gen intrafuselage weapons bays.

The RCS will be small thanks to its shape and the use of appropriate materials (0.07-0.1 sqm), with terrain-hugging flight capability at extremely low altitudes (5-15m).
Speed will be typical for cruise missiles in the order of 1M maximum.

The first flight of the Su-57 fighter with S-71K and S-71M UAVs took place on 18 April 2024 from the Ramenskoye airfield (Gromov Flight Research Institute) in Zhukovsky near Moscow.
The fighter was piloted by Sukhoi Company's chief test pilot Sergey Bogdan.

The first video shows the second stage of a high-speed (3.7 Mach) 57Э6 missile, fired from a Pantsir-S1 intercepting an AFU UAV over Podolsk. The 2nd and 3rd videos show the wreckage of an AFU tactical missile intercepted over Novoshakhtinsk, the modification of which has not yet been identified.

Mobile anti-aircraft units, equipped with truck mounted 23mm ЗУ-23-2 autocannons, quadruple anti-aircraft guns based on 12.7mm НСВТ machine guns, as well as mobile Гибка-С air defense systems based on Tigr armored vehicles, destroyed the long-range kamikaze UAVs based on the A-22 Foxbat light aircrafts, which covered about 2.100 km bypassing the low-altitude radar sectors of the air defense missile systems.
It was intercepted by the large-caliber machine guns and other small arms near the settlement of Vysoky in the Murmansk region, while the target was the Russian Aerospace Forces long-range aviation airbase Olenya.

A promising low-observable reconnaissance and attack UAV GJ-11 "Sharp Sword", designed according to the "flying wing" scheme, is at one of the stages of flight tests in China.

The RCS of the machine may not exceed 0.05 square meters due to the widespread use of radio-absorbing materials, a complex S-shaped configuration of the air duct to the turbofan compressor, the blades of which are shielded from electromagnetic waves of the radars of enemy fighters by bends in the air duct. The infrared signature is reduced due to the use of a flat nozzle configuration. The layout of the product, which has two internal weapons bays, is very similar to that of the French low-observable reconnaissance and attack UAV Dassault "nEUROn".

With a wingspan of 14.4 m, a length of 12.2 m, a payload of 2000 kg and a speed of 0.8-0.95 M, the range of the product can reach 800-1200 km.

More images of the S-71K Kover ("Ковер"), mounted on the АКУ-58А anchor unit on the wing of a Su-57, have appeared.

Equipped with INS, optical-electronic correlation and GLONASS correction module, the S-71K UAV received a "beaver tail" nozzle block and dozens of fuselage fractures, which reduces its IR signature by 3-5 times compared to the Kh-59MK2 and an and a RCS of up to 0.007 sq. m at an irradiation angle of +/- 10 degrees.

The drones with fibre-optic cable that are being used against the invading troops in the Kursk region, which are making use of a huge deployment of electronic warfare systems to combat our traditional FPV is called "Князь Вандал Новгородский" or in English "Vandal Prince of Novgorod" and was developed by specialists in the city of Veliky Novgorod.

Now the coils of these systems have fibre-optic cable lengths of 10-15 kilometres, while 20-kilometre coils are in the testing phase.

The biggest advantages of the system are the absence of signal discovery from the drone due to the absence of radio transmitter antenna poles, as well as the ability to maintain a stable data transmission speed without the possibility of being jammed, as well as transmitting high quality images even when FPV drones are used behind the screen of high ground.

The Russian Armed Forces have begun using new small-sized jet-powered UAVs decoys, which have a "flying wing" aerodynamic configuration with a sweep of about 45 degrees and a RCS of about 0.07-0.1 sq. m.

The drones are designed to oversaturate the target channels of the Ienemy SAM air defense systems.

The drones are equipped with small-sized turbojet engines of the with a thrust of 20 to 80 kgf.

The AFU created an UAV that launches a flammable mixture, looks like thermite or maybe white phosphorous.
As we can see a relatively small drone is able to spread the flammable mixture over a considerable distance, covering the entire forest belt in question.
In this situation, the ideal solution would be to burn out positions with incendiary mixtures that could destroy both the vegetation on the surface, which serves as camouflage from UAVs, and flow inside, burning out deeply buried shelters.
But due to the small size of the drone it is unlikely that the second objective, the destruction of the bunkers, will be possible.
It is similar to when Russia launches waves of flammable munitions from Grads.
On the other hand, apart from deforestation, this method does allow to temporarily dislodge the occupants from the trenches, which can then be captured.

An interesting anti-drone system from the Russian company Nova Labs: it is a small UAV equipped with machine vision, which itself captures and leads the target.

It hits the enemy drone by simply crashing into it, while remaining intact after the collision. The drone can be launched either from a ground-based ‘launcher’ or ‘by hand’, from a special ‘gun’.
The video shows a test launch, during which a divergence distance was set and no collision occurred.

Another productive night for the Russian Missile and Artillery Forces in the Sumy operational direction.

The infrared sensor of the multispectral optical-electronic complex, placed on the S350M "Supercam" UAV, recorded the maneuvers of a M142 HIMARS launcher 500-600 m southeast of the settlement of Khrapovshchina and the N-07 highway.
When the MLRS went deep into the forest and took up position in a camouflaged deployment point, it was struck by an operational-tactical quasi-ballistic missile 9M723-1 of the Iskander-M complex.

Moreover, the shrapnel field covered a field warehouse of transport and launch modules with 227mm M31A1 GMLRS, or (according to the second version) the more scarce M270 MLRS launcher on a tracked chassis.

Using multi-purpose tactical missile Kh-UPLA ("Х-БПЛА"), designed on the basis of the 9M133M-2 ATGM of the Kornet complex, the operator of the reconnaissance and attack UAV Inokhodets-RU successfully destroyed 2x T-64BV of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the march on the bridgehead in the Kursk region.

It is worth noting that the Inokhodets-RU UAV, which has a loitering duration at flight levels from 5.000 to 7.000m for 24 hours, flies directly over the affected object without any attempts at interception by the enemy.

This fact indicates the absence of such SAM systems as IRIS-T SLS, NASAMS, or IR-ASRAAM, the altitude interception boundary of which can reach 10-20 km, in this section of the Ukrainian Armed Forces bridgehead in the Kursk region.
It is likely that the enemy columns are covered by tactical troop SAM systems, such as "Stormer HVM" and/or "Avenger" with an altitude interception boundary of about 5.5 and 3.5 km, respectively.
The "Inokhodets-RU is capable of operating outside these boundaries.

As for unfavorable meteorological conditions, the semi-automatic laser-beam control system of the ATGM will lose its effectiveness in this situation, as will the optical-electronic module of the Inokhodets-RU.

In this situation, it will be necessary to equip these UAVs with onboard PESA/AESA radars of the X-/Ku- range, as well as new missiles as we talked some days ago:

Active use of Inokhodets-RU will significantly reduce the workload and additional risks for the crews of the Mi-28NM and Ka-52M.
The system is vulnerable to SAM systems, which has led to them simply being used for reconnaissance at safe distances, similar to the AFU's first wunderwaffen, the famous TB2 Bayraktar UAV.

That this is how it is being used at this stage of the incursion shows the serious problems of the AFU in Kursk.
