Another episode of the defeat of another American Stryker armored personnel carrier of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk border area using a multi-purpose tactical missile/anti-tank missile Х-БПЛА, launched from the suspension unit of the reconnaissance and attack UAV "Inohodets-RU".
The Х-БПЛА is a modification of the 9M133M-2 ATGM of the "Kornet" complex.

Impact of a Lancet on a Leopard2 A5 in Kursk.
As we have seen, the armour penetration of a Lancet is quite poor.
However, the lancet operator is clever and descends at a steep angle on the Leopard's turret.
To mitigate the well-known problem of NATO tanks being overweight, the designers created a very thin "roof", in fact in this video you can see the destroyed upper armour of another Leopard where the thickness is clearly visible:

In addition to the thin armour, a steep angle ensures a 0 degree impact on the plane, which mitigates the effect of the actual armour being increased due to the angle.
Another problem with NATO turrets is that due to their ammunition storage and weak top armour, penetrating the turret storage container from above is very easy. The mechanisms they are equipped with may mean that the crew can be saved, but the tank will be destroyed more easily.
In this sense, the NATO design line is much more vulnerable to attack from the top.
These vulnerabilities are trying to be mitigated in the latest Leopard 2A7 and A8 models, with reinforced armour in these areas.
It is not known how much they have been reinforced, but in any case it is unlikely that they would have succeeded in defending it against truly anti-tank weapons if they hit here (the weight would be tremendously excessive), although the changes will make it more resistant against Lancets and FPVs.

It is reported that the Russian Army's strike UAV squadrons will soon be armed with modified unmanned grenade launcher systems based on heavy quadcopters equipped with РПГ-26 "Аглень" transport and launch tubes.

To maintain the accuracy of the fire when firing at a distance of 300-700 m, the copter has highly sensitive accelerometers of 3-axis stabilization. The launcher is not installed parallel to the plane of the copter frame, but at an angle of about 35 degrees, which ensures a relatively high accuracy of the fire even without complex ballistic calculations required when rocket-propelled grenades exit at an angle of -3º to 10º degrees relative to the horizon line. Only the precise adjustment of the line of sight of the optical-electronic complex relative to the longitudinal axis of theRPG-26 was carried out.

The armor penetration of the RPG-26 reaches 440 mm, which will allow it to hit almost all known models of armored vehicles in the upper projection which are not covered by developed cope-cages.

Using the thermal imaging channel of the ОПС-28М multispectral optical-electronic sighting system, the navigator operator of the Mi-28NM reconnaissance and attack helicopter detected heat-contrast armored vehicles of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region at a distance of approximately 6.500 m.

As a result, one of the units was attacked by a 9M127-1 "Whirlwind" anti-tank guided missile with an average trajectory speed of 470-500 m/s and armor penetration of about 1050 mm without era.

The acoustic signature of the Mi-28NM is significantly lower than that of the Ka-52M, in particular due to the machete-shaped blade tips. Also, such an aerodynamic configuration of the blades increased the speed of the machine to 330-335 km/h.

Another selection of spectacular footage of the destruction of the 2S22 Bogdana (video 1) and M777A2 (video 2) self-propelled guns camouflaged at firing positions in the Kursk border area by Х-БПЛА missiles, launched from the suspension units of the Inokhodets-RU ("Иноходец-РУ") reconnaissance and attack UAV.

Objective control is carried out in the thermal imaging range from a distance of 7-10 km. The situation with enemy SAMs in this area is simply critical, which is allowing Russia to destroy enemy material as if they were a low sophistication non-governmental force with these UAVs which are quite easy to shoot down by SAMs of medium complexity.

The third published episode in the entire period of the SMO of the use of an helicopter launched ATGM, a 9M127-1 "Whirlwind-1" in this case to intercept a heavy attack UAV, most likely a "Baba Yaga" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The navigator-operator of the Ka-52M reconnaissance and attack helicopter detected the drone by the IR signature of the engine at a distance of about 4.5-4 km using the thermal imaging channel of the GOES-451M ("ГОЭС-451М") turret optical-electronic complex. At the same time, the launch was carried out from a distance of 2750-2900 m, taking into account the average trajectory speed of the 9M127-1 Whirlwind-1 missile of about 470 m/s.

The smoke screen increases the attenuation coefficient of IR and laser radiation by several orders of magnitude, preventing the guidance of ATGMs, both those using a semi-automatic laser-beam guidance system like the Kornet, as well as those equipped with semi-active laser homing heads like the Javelin.

An almost complete absence of military air defense systems with an altitude limit reaching more than 5000m (including IR-ASRAAM, Stormer HVM and Crotale-NG) at the disposal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reamains in the Sudzha operational direction of the Kursk Front.

The optical-electronic sighting system in the medium-wave IR range tracks the enemy vehicle, at an echelon of 5850-6150 m.

This time, the victim was a Ukrainian tank.
The warhead of the Х-БПЛА ATGM is literally the same one as in the Kornet ATGM. The Kornet can destroy basically any armoured vehicle from any direction with ease, if we take into account the angles of impact of this air-launched version, which, falling from above, will hit lightly armoured areas, we are talking about every hit ensuring penetration.

One of the most interesting and effective elements of the ammunition set of the reconnaissance and attack UAV "Inohodets-RU" ("Иноходец-РУ") are the gliding guided aerial bombs UPAB-50S ("УПАБ-50С"), which makes use of the warheads from 122mm unguided rockets (from HE 9M22U-1 to cluster 9M28K warheads), placed in the fuselage with a folding wing block, as well as a tail module of aerodynamic controls which correct the trajectory based on the inertial navigation system and GLONASS /GPS correction receiver.

When dropped at an altitude of 6.500 m, the gliding range of this product can reach 25-30 km, which allows the Inokhodets-RU operator to avoid entering into the range of enemy air defense systems such as IR-ASRAAM or NASAMS in a standard modification with AIM-120B AMRAAM SAMs, the effective range of which when launched from a ground launcher does not exceed 20-23 km.
The UPAB-50S was designed by JSC Kronshtadt and is a kind of mini-version of the D-30SN UMBP ("Д-30СН УМПБ"), the new version of the FAB...
It is noteworthy that in the case of developing a specialized multi-point or container multi-position launcher for placement on the suspension points of the Su-34NVO, one such aircraft in the high-altitude pitching mode will be able to use up to 20+ UPAB-50S aerial bombs against targets at a distance of 80-100 km.

An anti-tank modification of a promising tracked unmanned multi-purpose platform is used by one of the anti-tank units of the 42nd division in the Orekhov operational direction.

In this version, the combat module of the small-sized platform is represented by a launcher of the Konkurs-M ATGM with a modern television and thermal imaging sighting system coupled with it.
The platform is equipped with command and telemetry channels for controlling the tracked platform and the launcher guidance drives. Two secure channels for transmitting video images from the Konkurs-M sighting system and from the platform navigation cameras. The chassis layout is similar to that of the СЭМ-350 platform, but with a larger number of support rollers. The platform is equipped with a small-sized multi-range electronic warfare system.

The platform was designed by a fighter of the Dnepr Group of Forces on an initiative basis.

First combat loss of the reconnaissance and attack UAV "Inohodets-RU" ("Иноходец-РУ") over the Kursk region

It is reported that the drone was intercepted by the enemy's Strela-10M2/3 air defense missile system using the 9M37M missile. Most likely, the key role in detecting and capturing the Inokhodets-RU was played by the photocontrast sensor of the anti-aircraft missile's three-band optical-electronic homing head, which also ensures the interception of small-sized aircraft-type UAVs.

But the most important factor in what happened, without any doubt, is the decrease in the operating altitude of the Inokhodets-RU from the standard 6.300-5.700 m to 3.500-3.300m, while the altitude limit of intercepted targets for the 9M37M SAM is 3.500 m.

It is also worth noting that in addition to the use of tactical missiles of the Х-БПЛА type with a range of 10 km, the drone can be software and hardware adapted to the use of modernized tactical missiles Kh-39 LMUR ("Product-305"), which in the updated modification have a range of 20+ km, when launched at echelons of 5000-7000 m, and possibly more. Such a range can protect the UAV from interception even by the NASAMS air defense system in the standard modification.

The Russian National Guard presents methodological infographics on counteracting various enemy armored vehicles using hand-held anti-tank weapons and small arms.

In this case, we are talking about the Polish MBT PT-91 "Twardy". As we can see, despite the dense placement of ERAWA-2 ERA elements (providing resistance from APFSDS of about 560 mm and from Shaped Charges of about 700-750mm), this vehicle still has weakened sectors.
In the area of ​​the gun mantlet and the junction of the upper and lower glacis plates, the resistance to Shaped Charges is just 300-430 mm.
These sectors can be penetrated by the PG-7VL grenade of the RPG.
