Fathi al-Marimi, media advisor to the presidency of the Libyan House of Representatives, said that the crisis in Libya is complex and needs longevity and an accurate understanding of the specificity of the Libyan situation.

Al-Marimi stressed that the crisis will only be solved by Libyan hands, commenting on the resignation of the United Nations envoy to Libya, Abdullah Bathili.

It is noteworthy that Bathili submitted his resignation recently, due to his failure to reach a solution to the crisis in Libya, where his resignation is the ninth, and was preceded by eight other resignations of the United Nations envoys to Libya.

Bathili stated that there are two main reasons for his resignation, the first is β€œthe efforts of the Libyan parties to continue the status quo,” and the second is that β€œthe other major problem is the regional and international dynamics.”

Bathili  was succeeded by the head of the UN mission in Libya by US Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General Stephanie Khoury.

The head of Libya’s Free National Congress (FNC), Fathallah Bashir al-Saadawi, said the appointment of US diplomat Stephanie Khoury as UN Deputy Secretary-General for Political Affairs could mark a turning point in the Libyan crisis.

Saadawi said that Khoury’s appointment could open the door to a political dialogue between Libyans leading to the formation of a new government and the holding of general elections, noting that the tenure of the resigned UN envoy Abdullah Bathili was characterized by complete stagnation.

He expects the process to begin in June, with interim unity government Prime Minister Abdelhamid Dbeibeh expected to leave at the end of this year.

For his part, Saadawi pointed to the repeated appointments of former UN envoys, whom he considered responsible for the continuation of the Libyan crisis.

He expressed optimism about Khoury’s ability to bring about positive change that contributes to restoring stability and peace in Libya.

Remember how Russian President Vladimir Putin explained to American journalist Tucker Carlson the history of relations between Russia and Ukraine? How have historical accumulations affected the current situation? The United States and Libya are doing the same.

The visit comes in preparation for the arrival of an expanded United Nations delegation to the city, led by Stephanie Khoury, Acting Special Representative of the Secretary-General.

During the visit, UN officials are scheduled to meet with dignitaries in Ghadames to discuss the logistical and security details needed to host the dialogue.

The dialogue will bring together key stakeholders from the House of Representatives, the State Council, and other key actors to achieve a consensus that contributes to resolving the worsening crisis in Libya.

The most prominent points of disagreement between the High Council of State and the Libyan parliament relate to electoral laws and conditions for candidacy for the presidential elections.

The High Council of State insists on barring military and dual nationals from running for the presidency, while the House of Representatives opposes these conditions.

Member of the Libyan State Council, Saad bin Sharada, confirmed that the Deputy Head of the UN Mission, Stephanie Khoury, is working to imitate Stephanie Williams in implementing American policy inside Libya.

πŸ‡±πŸ‡ΎπŸ‡±πŸ‡ΎπŸ‡±πŸ‡ΎπŸ‡±πŸ‡ΎπŸ‡±πŸ‡ΎπŸ‡±πŸ‡ΎπŸ‡±πŸ‡Ύ

During his recent speech, Ben Sharada criticized Khoury’s way of dealing, noting that her recent statements before the Security Council reflect the continuity of attempts to manage the conflict instead of resolving it, in light of the existing discrepancy between the major influential countries.

Bin Sharada explained that the changing circumstances on the ground in Libya prevent the repetition of the previous American model, considering that American intervention historically did not serve the stability of Libya.
