Fathi al-Marimi, media advisor to the presidency of the Libyan House of Representatives, said that the crisis in Libya is complex and needs longevity and an accurate understanding of the specificity of the Libyan situation.

Al-Marimi stressed that the crisis will only be solved by Libyan hands, commenting on the resignation of the United Nations envoy to Libya, Abdullah Bathili.

It is noteworthy that Bathili submitted his resignation recently, due to his failure to reach a solution to the crisis in Libya, where his resignation is the ninth, and was preceded by eight other resignations of the United Nations envoys to Libya.

Bathili stated that there are two main reasons for his resignation, the first is “the efforts of the Libyan parties to continue the status quo,” and the second is that “the other major problem is the regional and international dynamics.”

Bathili  was succeeded by the head of the UN mission in Libya by US Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General Stephanie Khoury.
