Joshua Wong's Phone Allegedly Hacked by the Police Under Warrantless Condition

//1. Arrested on August 30, my phone was seized by #hkpolice. The phone can only be unlocked with passwords. Before court resumed yesterday, I have NEVER provided any passwords to #police, nor received any notice nor warrant for a search of my mobile device.
2. However, #hkpolice yesterday submitted an evidence list, which allegedly included 4 text messages of mine from iPhone XR. Police can even identify how the messages were sent out, whether it's from a mobile or desktop version of the app.
3. Since such functions can't be found on ordinary user interface, that can only be possible with the help of state-sponsored hacking. It's utterly alarming that police begins to hack mobile devices of #HKers, just like #China hacking iPhones & Android devices to target #Uyghurs.
4. Such warrantless search is also a blunt violation of the freedom & privacy of communication enshrined in Basic Law. I doubt whether such a search is lawful. Now it seems state-backed hackers get involved in the crackdown on HK movement. I urge to strengthen your cybersecurity.//

Mongolians are resisting cultural oppression, an increasingly common strategy to deal with minorities from the CCP. This is already faced by Tibetans and Uyghurs. Hong Kongers, as another 'troublesome' minority group, is likely to be the next target of cultural oppression.

Former District Councillors Participated in Demonstration in the UK
Oct 1 is the China National Day. More than 100 HKers gathered for an assembly at Piccadilly Gardens in #Manchester, #UK. Event organisers included former Tuen Mun #DistrictCouncillor (DC) Chris Tsang Chun-Hing and Former Wan Chai DC Clara Cheung. They both mentioned that #HKers should promote our local culture in the UK.
The event lasted for half an hour and was hosted by Abingo, Social Media Page #ManchesteHongKong administrator. Aged 30, he arrived UK half a year ago with a BN(O) visa. He explained that the assembly's theme is "#WeUnion", as the speakers combined with #valiant and #PRN, hoping that HKers would not be easily separated.
Former DC: Build the culture and identity from daily to arts
Chris Tang, former Tuen Mun DC, was one of the organisers. He arrived UK a few months ago with BN(O). He used "#MIRROR", a Hong Kong Cantopop boy group, as an example that there were cheering events in London which stated that HKers could export the culture in daily life in the UK. He also hoped to become a bridge between people in the UK and HKers, building up linkage with them and letting people in the UK to understand the Hong Kong situation.
Clara Cheung, Former Wan Chai DC, was also one of the organisers. She was previously an art curator and she actively integrated art into community while at the position. She indicated that the Hong Kong cultural sector was discussing how to bring Hong Kong cultural art to the world. And that "HKers are now scattered across the world". As long as we proactively create artworks, it will build HKers identity. She also believed that HKers should communicate with other exile people who have similar ideas and share cultural assets such as Cantopop, Hong Kong food as well as stories. Throughout the interaction, HKers can build their own culture.

"Ten Years" Director Organizes #HongKongFilmFestival in the UK
Ka-Leung Ng, a Hong Kong director who produced the dytopian film #TenYears, has moved to the UK for almost a year; however, he did not announce his whereabouts until September 2021. When asked about the reason, Ng said, "I don't even know how to explain."
Being away for a year, #KaLeungNg still has his mind on Hong Kong, like many other Hong Kong people. Therefore, he organized the 1st Hong Kong Film Festival (UK) with fellows. It was held between March and April in #London, #Manchester, #Bristol and #Edinburgh.
Among his 16 film productions, there are videos related to social movements which are not allowed to be screened in Hong Kong. However, even more are small-scaled independent movie productions that even Hongkongers may not know them.
He knows that it is difficult to produce a movie freely in Hong Kong's current situation. Therefore, he hopes to promote Hong Kong movies in the #UK in various areas, topics and presentation ways throughout the Film Festival. He added, "Even if Hongkongers are emotionally eager to watch some of the movies, we have the responsibility to promote a breadth of movies. Therefore, more people can understand Hong Kong culture and stories... How Hong Kong films move further depends on how we continue to promote overseas."
Since people in the UK would like to watch HK movies but he does not have relevant experience, he and #ChingWong, with the aid of other people such as local film festival hosts and professors for HK movies, organise the event, titled "Rupture and Rebirth". "Rupture" can be understood as the change of not only interpersonal relationships due to imprisonment and being apart, but also the identity of #HKers and movie cultures. "Rebirth" indicates hope -- people try to find a way out of a bad situation. "Good artworks can still be seen in bad times". He emphasises that he does not intend to choose banned movies to screen, "when a place becomes abnormal, normal actions will be treated as weird".

National Security Department Offers Bounty for 8 Exiled Activists
Three years into the implementation of the National Security Law (#NSL), the National Security Department (#NSDepartment) announced that they are offering bounty for the arrest of eight exiled Hongkongers.
In a press conference on July 3, Chief Superintendent Li Kwai-wah said he has applied to the courts for an arrest warrant, with an award of up to 1 million dollars for information on the eight wanted Hongkongers. The eight are: lawyer #KevinYam News commentator #ElmerYuen, Director of Hong Kong Democratic Council (#HKDC) #AnnaKwok, #FinnLau, #MungSiuTat, Former LegCo member #DennisKwok, #TedHui, and #NathanLaw.
The police displayed black-and-white photos of the eight in the conference, announcing their offenses one by one, and criticising their threats to the national security.
Li also mentioned that some "Anti-China rioters" are exiled but continue endangering national security. He quoted the 37th and 38th Ordinance under NSL, emphasising the regulation has an extraterritorial effect, regardless of whether the person is a Hong Kong permanent resident.
