🇺🇸 Kilauea Eruption: Spectacular Lava Fountains in Hawaii

🗓 On May 25, 2025, the 23rd eruptive episode began at the Halemaʻumaʻu crater floor of Kilauea Volcano, one of the most active volcanoes on Earth.

🌋 The eruption started at around 4:15 PM local time at the northern vent, which initially showed minimal signs of activity. By 4:50 PM, however, it was producing powerful dome-shaped lava fountains reaching heights of over 1,000 feet (around 300 meters).

🔥 At approximately 5:15 PM, the southern vent also became active, though with less intense fountains rising to about 230 feet (70 meters).

According to the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO), the situation remains dynamic and is being closely monitored. Further changes in activity are possible in the coming hours or days.

🇮🇹 Additional update on Mount Etna eruption, Sicily

🌋 We previously reported on the eruption of Mount Etna that began on June 2, 2025, on the Italian island of Sicily. The event was marked by large plumes of ash and smoke, as well as lava and pyroclastic flows.

⚠️ It has now been revealed that the Sentinel-2 satellite, part of the Copernicus program, captured the eruption just minutes after it began. The newly released satellite images clearly show the powerful plumes and the spread of volcanic material down the slopes.

‼️Etna remains the most active volcano in Europe. Although its eruptions are frequent, they rarely pose a serious threat to local residents. Thanks to modern technology like satellite monitoring , scientists can now track such natural phenomena in near real-time.

🇬🇹 Nighttime Activity at Fuego Volcano, Guatemala (June 4, 2025)

🌋 On the night of June 4, Guatemala’s Fuego volcano showed renewed activity, with powerful explosions, ash emissions, and lava flows. Hot material cascaded down the slopes, and the ash plume rose over 1.5 km (about 5,000 feet) above the crater.

🚨 The National Institute for Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology (INSIVUMEH) warned of possible lava flows and ashfall in surrounding communities. Local residents have been alerted about potential evacuation measures if conditions worsen.

🌫 People living nearby are advised to stay indoors, wear masks, and closely follow official updates.

🌍 Scientists note that increased volcanic activity may be linked to complex geophysical and climate-related changes in the region.

🇬🇹 Guatemala — Eruption of Volcán de Fuego: Pyroclastic Flows and Lahars

🌋 On June 5, 2025, a significant increase in volcanic activity was observed at Volcán de Fuego in Guatemala. A pyroclastic flow — a fast-moving current of hot gas, ash, and volcanic debris — was seen descending the slopes of the volcano.

🌧 In addition, lahars (volcanic mudflows) have been reported in the area, caused by the mixture of volcanic material with rainwater. These flows pose a serious threat to communities located near the base of the volcano.

🚨In response to the escalating activity, the CONRED disaster response agency has initiated preventive evacuations in the village of Panimaché I, in the municipality of San Pedro Yepocapa, Chimaltenango Department.

‼️ Residents are urged to remain alert and follow official instructions.
