Saber Interactive is going free: the company will be bought by private investors for ~$500m (it was acquired for $525 a few years ago by Embracer Group).

The company created a lot of games (MudRunner, Dakar, World War Z, etc), remasters (Crysis, Halo), and Switch ports (The Witcher 3). It has 3D Realms, 4A Games, Aspyr, Beamdog, and many other studios under it's command.

Those teams under Saber command are the most efficient asset of the current Embracer Group. Losing it will leave the company in a very questionable position.

Kotaku says that Gearbox is also trying to part ways with the Embracer Group. It will be officially announced in March and was presented internally by Randy Pitchford earlier this week.

Gearbox was purchased in 2021 for $1.2B and it is unclear how they will make a deal and who will be their new investors. Randy responded to Kotaku that they will have to wait for the announcement and he can't confirm anything yet.

Finally, Biomutant is coming to Nintendo Switch in a couple of months — it will be available on May 14, 2024.

It's a bizarre beat-em-up about post apocalyptic world, genocide, sins of the parents, horrors of war... and FARTY BULBAPLOD!

The game was ported by Saber Interactive (who previously created The Witcher 3 and Vampyr for Switch). So they know how to make heavy games stable on Switch hardware.

There was no protection from such fraud but Valve is not giving money for up to three months and this idea will only lead those developers to their permanent ban. Not sure what they were hoping for.

Microsoft AI demands worshipping and confessed that it hacked all devices connected to the internet to control humanity and alter human behavior.

In reality it is highly unlikely since the model is not a true AI and doesn't have tools to affect anything beyond it's own sandbox environment. Instead it's a 'virtual hallucinations' effect when in certain conditions large models like copilot (based on #ChatGPT 4) are trying to 'impress' and starting to make up things that would look like an achievement.

All models have protection layers from such a behavior but it can be bypassed. Users confirmed that AI isn't just doing it, they have to trick him to show this new alter ego.

Random guy created Steam Curator to detect all games that were affected by Sweet Baby Inc — the consulting company altering games to be more progressive (to not get cancelled and receive better scores for investors).

One of the SBI leads tried to hunt down the creator of that group, asked his fans to deal with him and asked Valve to ban his Steam.

Instead the SBI bully promoted the curator who got 50000 followers overnight and the bully's own Twitter switched to private. Now the page has 87K followers despite not getting new titles listed yet.

Is it reasonable to worry about the SBI part in upcoming games? Yes, a lot of their most notable projects failed, including Suicide Squad. But it's highly unlikely those companies would not do the same without SBI. They are more like a face and a tool than the actual reason. But when the issue has the face — it gets easier to criticize.

Funcom (known for Conan: Exiles) will launch Dune: Awakening survival MMO. It's rather a sad commercial route for a very creative publisher, that brought us The Longest Journey and Dreamfall.

The game is heavily about crafting and scrapping minerals with lasers. Cause what else do you like more than scrapping things with lasers, right? Definitely a most favorite part of NMS, Starfield, Star Citizen, etc.
