Let's be frank...practically everyone is going through one 'issue' or the other. The severity may differ, but issues of concern nonetheless. Sometimes, people are genuinely immersed in their own challenges. They can barely get by and hardly have a chance to check on others.

This is why we should pay more attention to self-care. Social support is important but self-care is more important. Self-care is a crucial survival skill.

You must have heard the saying: "What works for A may not (necessarily) work for B."

Why is that?

Simple.

A is not (necessarily) the same as B. Likewise, you are not the same as the next person. There might be similarities (people are similar as they are different) but you are (uniquely) you, not someone else. In many cases, what works for them may not (necessarily) work for you.

So, be unapologetically YOU.

Of course, while being you, it's imperative to ensure that you're not (intentionally) causing harm (in any form) to another/putting another in harm's way.

On Monday, I told my students during class that there's hardly anyone who doesn't appreciate compliments.

One of them told me she has a friend who rejects compliments because she believes they're all lies.

I wondered. I hadn't met anyone like that. I casually told my student that her friend would need some cognitive restructuring.

Then, I saw this video few minutes ago. Wow. It's actually a thing. It exists.

I'm going to show my student this video and ask her to show her friend and if her friend doesn't mind, I'd like to follow up on that.

I hope this video ministers to someone out there🌹.

"It's easier said than done."
"It's not that easy."

We usually hear these words (or tell 'em to ourselves) when it comes to making decisions, especially tough/painful ones.

True, tough/painful decisions aren't easy to make, considering that most times, the human tendency is to maximise pleasure and minimise pain. However, some tough/painful decisions are necessary - they must be made (for abundant reasons, depending on prevailing circumstances).

The question shouldn't be, "is it easy?" (it most likely won't be easy now or later). The question should be, "is it worth it?" If it's worth it, that'll make up for the pain in the long run.

Unpleasant/difficult/delicate life experiences may induce stress/anxiety, which may trigger unwanted/intrusive thoughts - repetitive thoughts that pop into our heads any time without warning. These thoughts are usually disturbing or even distressing.

While a large proportion of people experience/will experience this at one time or the other due to prevailing circumstances, it's important to note that intrusive thoughts may also be pointers to a mental health condition.

If intrusive thoughts negatively impact one or more daily functions or pose the threat of physical harm to you/others around you or greatly distress you, then you should seek professional intervention.
