📩 Question:

The questioner says: If a man prays in a place where the Hanafi madhab is wide spread, and they pray the prayers at a later time, such as praying the ‘Asr prayer when the sun becomes yellow, and when the shadow of everything becomes twice it’s length, and they pray the Fajr prayer when the light becomes bright.

📝 The answer:

If he doesn’t find someone to pray with in the beginning of the time, then he should pray with them and should not miss the congregation. He should pray with them so long as they are praying within the time that it is permissible to pray in. if however they were to delay the prayer until slightly before Maghreb, then pray the prayer in its ordained times even if you are to pray by yourself, this is if you don’t find anyone else to pray with.

As for if you were to find a congregation which prays in accordance with the Sunnah in the beginning time then you should pray with them. And if you do not find such a congregation then you should not miss the congregation so long as these Hanafis are safe from the polytheistic beliefs of the Sufis, then there is no problem in praying with them.

And this Madhab (school of thought) has become widespread in India, Pakistan, Sri-Lanka, and some parts of Russia, and upon you is to cling to the evidences. And warn against some of these Imams that have fallen into Shirk. Some of them have fallen into extreme Sufism to the point where they have fallen into al-Istighatha (seeking help in time of difficulty) from other than Allah, in which case he should not be prayed behind. And all aid and assistance if sought from Allah alone.

📩 Question:

The questioner says: the dome that is built on top of the Prophet’s (ﷺ) grave, many of the Sufis use it as evidence for building domes on graves.

📝 The answer:

This dome that has been built on the grave of the Prophet (ﷺ) is not by his command (ﷺ), and not from the actions of the companions, and likewise not from the virtuous generations. Not in the era of the companions, nor in the era of the tabi’een (students of the companions) and not their followers, rather it was done by some of the kings, a man who they call Qaloon al-Saalihi or Qalawoon al-Salihi, in the sixth, or the seventh century after the Hijrah of the Prophet. He is the one who built that dome, and perhaps the leaders in that time left off removing it out of fear of fitnah from the ignoramuses, and that they would be attributed to causing entrenchment upon the grave of the Prophet (ﷺ).

And perhaps some countries would protest against this action, so perhaps they left it off due to repelling the harm, or so that the succeeding leaders won’t continue, one destroying it, the next building it again, then the next one destroying it, and the next one comes and rebuilds it, for this will result in great harm.

So perhaps they left it off due to this reason, otherwise it is a heresy and not something from the Prophet (ﷺ) and not from his commands. The companions didn’t do it, neither the tabi’een. So it is a heretic action.

And all success lies with Allah.

📩 Question:

The questioner says: Is it advised for a student of knowledge to work for half the day, and to free up the other half for seeking knowledge?

📝 The answer:

We do not advise this, we advise him to free his time for seeking knowledge. He should work in times of necessity and difficulty. If it becomes very difficult for him and he does not find someone to take a loan from, then he should work a portion of his day until he can fence his needs only. And Allah will not leave him as long as he is truthful with Allah. Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) will take care of him and will make his affairs easy. And I advise the students of knowledge to not busy themselves with work, they must devote themselves to seeking knowledge and not work except in dire necessity. When his affair becomes very difficult and he doesn’t find anyone whom he can take a loan from who will be patient with him, only then should he work a portion of his day until his needs are satisfied.

📩 Question:

The questioner says: Is it allowed for him to pray whilst there remains some impurity on his underwear?

📝 The answer:
It is not allowed for him to pray. Allah (تعالى) says:
﴿وَثِيَابَكَ فَطَهِّرْ﴾
“And purify your garments”

So it is not allowed to pray, and the prayer is invalid. The people of knowledge issued verdicts that this is overlooked in the case of a person who is trialed with this. They are trialed with impurities constantly exiting from them, and this repeats itself constantly whereby it becomes very difficult for him, in this case there is no problem.

As for the one who does not find it difficult, then upon him is to remove it (the impurity). Furthermore, the one who finds it difficult upon himself, he is also required to be very cautios according to his capability. Allah (تعالى) says:
{فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا ٱسْتَطَعْتُمْ}
"So keep your duty to Allah and fear Him as much as you can"
And He (تعالى) says:
{لَا يُكَلِّفُ ٱللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا}
“Allah does not burden a soul more than its capability”

📩 Question:

The questioner says: what is the ruling of the one who prays with semen on his clothes that he had forgotten to wash and didn’t remember until after the prayer?

📝 The answer:

Firstly: there is a difference of opinion with regards to semen. I mean with regards to its purity/impurity, and the correct view is that it is something which is abhorred such as abhorrent mucus. This is due to the absence of any authentic clear-cut evidence proving that it is impure. So it is just like mucus and phlegm. And upon this there is no issue for the brother at all.

However, based on the opinion that semen is impure, or based on the presumption that it has been mixed with pre-ejaculate then there is also no problem as he didn’t know about the impurity, or he had forgotten about it and didn’t remember except when he had finished from the prayer. So the prayer is correct even according to this view, and there is no problem for him.

And the evidence for this is the Hadith of Abi Sa’eed al-Khudhri (رضي الله عنه) who said:
ﻴﻨﻤﺎ ﺭﺳﻮﻝ اﻟﻠﻪ ﺻﻠﻰ اﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ ﻳﺼﻠﻲ ﺑﺄﺻﺤﺎﺑﻪ ﺇﺫ ﺧﻠﻊ ﻧﻌﻠﻴﻪ ﻓﻮﺿﻌﻬﻤﺎ ﻋﻦ ﻳﺴﺎﺭﻩ، ﻓﻠﻤﺎ ﺭﺃﻯ ﺫﻟﻚ اﻟﻘﻮﻡ ﺃﻟﻘﻮا ﻧﻌﺎﻟﻬﻢ ﻓﻠﻤﺎ ﻗﻀﻰ ﺭﺳﻮﻝ اﻟﻠﻪ ﺻﻠﻰ اﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ ﺻﻼﺗﻪ، ﻗﺎﻝ
“Whilst the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was leading his companions in prayer he took of his sandals and put them to his left. When the people saw this, they put aside their sandals. And when the Prophet ﷺ finished his prayer he said:
(ﻣﺎ ﺣﻤﻠﻜﻢ ﻋﻠﻰ ﺇﻟﻘﺎء ﻧﻌﺎﻟﻜﻢ)
“what made you to put aside your sandals?”
So they said:
ﺭﺃﻳﻨﺎﻙ ﺃﻟﻘﻴﺖ ﻧﻌﻠﻴﻚ ﻓﺄﻟﻘﻴﻨﺎ ﻧﻌﺎﻟﻨﺎ
“We saw you put aside your sandals and so we put aside our sandals.
And so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
(ﺇﻥ ﺟﺒﺮﻳﻞ ﺻﻠﻰ اﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ ﺃﺗﺎﻧﻲ ﻓﺄﺧﺒﺮﻧﻲ ﺃﻥ ﻓﻴﻬﻤﺎ ﻗﺬﺭا)
“Verily Jibril (عليه السلام) came to me and informed me that they had impurity on them”
And so the Prophet ﷺ took them off and completed his prayer without repeating that which had passed by, so this is similar to that and there is no problem.

If however he is to find out whilst he is praying that his clothing contains impurity, other than semen, if there were impurities on his clothes and he found out at the time of prayer then it is obligatory upon him to remove it just like the Prophet ﷺ took off his sandals. If he is not able to remove it then he should leave (the prayer) and go to remove the impurities. Such as if the impurities were on clothing where he is not able to remove it in front of people, then upon him is to leave, to remove it and then to return and repeat the prayer.
