Circadian rhythm:
@ All living organisms on Earth have an internal clock, known as the circadian rhythm, our biological clock also helps regulate eating habits, hormone release, blood pressure and body temperature.

@ A person’s well-being is affected when there is a “temporary mismatch between our external environment and this internal biological clock.” For example, disruption to our clocks when someone travels across a number of time zones results in jet lag.

@ Research on the body clock has helped scientists improve health. Many drugs now on the market work best when taken at the right time.

Nano-pharmaceuticals:
▪️Guidelines For Evaluation Of Nano-pharmaceuticals In India were launched by Ministry for Science & Technology.

▪️ Guidelines are jointly developed by Department of Biotechnology (DBI), Ministry of Science and Technology, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

▪️ A nano-pharmaceutical is defined as "a pharmaceutical preparation containing nanomaterials intended for internal use or external application on human for the purpose of therapeutics, diagnostics and health benefits."

Significance:
a) Enhanced solubility and dissolution rate.
b) Enhanced oral bioavailability.
c) Improved dose proportionality.
d) Reduced food effects.
e) Suitability for administration by all routes and possibility of sterile filtration due to decreased particle size range.

Huntington Disease (HD)
▪️It is a progressive genetic disorder which affects the brain.
▪️It causes uncontrolled movements, impaired coordination of balance and movement, a decline in cognitive abilities, difficulty in concentrating and memory lapses, mood swings and personality changes.
▪️The HTT genes are involved in the production of a protein called huntingtin. They provide the instruction for making the protein.
▪️Mutated genes provide faulty instructions leading to production of abnormal huntingtin proteins and formation of clumps.
▪️These clumps disrupt the normal functioning of the brain cells, which eventually leads to death of neurons in the brain, resulting in Huntington disease.
▪️No cure exists, but drugs, physiotherapy and talk therapy can help manage some symptoms.

Indian Scientists’ Response to COVID-19 (ISRC)

●(ISRC) is a voluntary group of scientists to address the concerns raised by the COVID-19 outbreak and to discuss the rapidly evolving situation with its dire need for science communication.
●The group consists of nearly 200 scientists from different institutions
●It aims to study existing and available data to bring out analysis that will support the Central, State and local governments in carrying out their tasks.

Magneto-caloric material

-Magnetocaloric effect (MCE) is a phenomenon where the application and removal of a magnetic field cause certain materials to get warmer and cooler.

-This effect normally occurs near its Curie temperature where the application of the field makes the material to warm up and cools up when the field is removed.
