What is Asia-pacific Institute of Broadcasting Development (AIBD)?

● The Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) was established in 1977 under the aegis of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

● It is a unique regional inter-governmental organisation servicing countries of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN-ESCAP) in the field of electronic media development.

● Its secretariat is situated in Kuala Lumpur and is hosted by the Government of Malaysia.

● The AIBD is mandated to achieve a vibrant and cohesive electronic media environment in the Asia-Pacific region through policy and resource development.

🔥 Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA)

● Founded in 1997, IORA serves as a regional forum aimed at fostering understanding and mutually beneficial cooperation through a consensus-based, non-intrusive approach.

● IORA has members from Africa, West Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Oceania.

●The Association’s membership has expanded to 23 member states and 11 dialogue partners.

● Secretariat is based in Cyber City, Ebene, Mauritius.

India Tea Association (ITA)

● Founded in 1881, the ITA is the premier and the oldest organization of tea producers in India.

● ITA, since its inception has remained the principal advisory and supervisory body in the tea industry.

● ITA is Headquartered in Kolkata.

● ITA continues to discharge a multidimensional role, formulating policies and effectively liaising with the Tea Board, Central and State Governments and a wide spread of quasi Governmental and regulatory agencies.

● The ITA and its branches represent over 60% of India's total tea production.

🔥Periodic Labour Force Survey

- It is a survey conducted by the NSO under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) 

- The NSO launched the PLFS in April 2017.

- This is 6th edition , each edition track 12 month period from July to June

The objective of PLFS is primarily twofold:

- to estimate the key employment and unemployment indicators (viz. Worker Population Ratio, Labour Force Participation Rate, Unemployment Rate) in the short time interval of three months for the urban areas only in the Current Weekly Status (CWS)

- to estimate employment and unemployment indicators in both usual status (ps+ss) and CWS in both rural and urban areas annually.
