Vladlen Tatarsky wonders where all the volunteer nationalist battalions formed by natives of the North #Caucasus and #Crimea are fighting. Indeed, is there any confirmation of their actual participation in combat operations in Ukraine at all?

🔻 Which formations are we talking about?

▪️ "Sheikh Mansur" Battalion:

Chechens from this battalion have been fighting in Ukraine for many years and took part in the genocide of the #Donbass population in 2014-2016.

It is they, together with the "Dzhokhar Dudayev Battalion", that constitute the "North Caucasian backbone" actively supported in the Western press to foment separatism in the Russian regions in the Caucasus.

Their activities were noted in the #Kherson direction in November after the withdrawal of Russian troops to the left bank of the #Dnipro river.

At the same time, they did not actually take part in the battles, but played the role of the most common units of the thero-defence already after the withdrawal of the RF Armed Forces, taking up positions in the second echelon.

▪️ "Muslim Corps - Caucasus":

The volunteer corps as part of the "International Legion of Defence of Ukraine" was formed in May this year.

According to an official statement, it was created "at the request of Muslims living in Ukraine for the freedom of the Caucasian peoples from the oppression of the Russian authorities".

The main contingent consists of natives of the Caucasus, as well as some representatives of Turkic peoples - including Crimean Tatars and Azerbaijanis who took part in the fighting in #Donbass in 2014-2016.

The corps has a Telegram channel that periodically publishes photos from the alleged training of recruits, but their credibility is highly questionable, given that there is still no real evidence of their involvement in the conflict.

▪️ "Crimea" Battalion:

The unit was established in 2014 and mainly consists of Crimean Tatars who fled the peninsula. However, since its formation, there has been no information on the battalion's actual involvement in combat.

In February this year, Nariman Bilyalov (pseudonym Isa Akayev), the founder of the volunteer battalion, announced the reactivation of the battalion, which also included natives of the North Caucasus region.

Since its re-establishment the media have been reporting on the successes of the nationalist formation with some frequency. At the same time, the members of the "Crimea" Battalion" themselves complain about the low level of support from the Ukrainian authorities.

Apart from various interviews and publications on Telegram, there is also no real confirmation of the participation of the Crimean Tatar unit in battles. Back in April, we explained in detail that radical Islamists are nothing more than a tool of Ukrainian propaganda. Moreover, they are actively used to promote separatist ideas in the Russian Federation.

🩸 Despite the militant statements of the representatives of these battalions, most of them fight virtually. Their main purpose is informational influence on representatives of the Turkic and Caucasian peoples of #Russia.

And the prefix "battalion" does not reflect the real reality. In some cases the number of volunteer formations does not exceed a hundred men.

The "Sheikh Mansur" Battalion seems to be taking part in battles, but in the second echelon. Their main task is to broadcast a pretty picture of the "struggle against Russian power" to the population of the Caucasus.

In the #Kherson direction the Russian army attacked the "grey zone" on Bolshoy Potemkin Island. Attack on #Belogrudovoye. The objective is to defend Golaya Pristan. A stronghold on the left bank of the #Dnipro River. AFU artillery is working on this settlement. But the opposite is true. The RF Armed Forces are shelling #Kozatskoye and #Berislav. This is to the north-east. (Fig. 1)

On the #Donetsk front, Russian artillery is hitting AFU strongholds in #Maryinka, #Krasnogorovka and #Avdeyevka. The Ukrainian army struck #Donetsk. (Fig.2)

⚡️🇷🇺🇺🇦🛤 @Rybar's Analysis: What is the State of #Ukraine's Railway System after 9 Months of the #SMO⚡️

Throughout the Special Military Operation, Rybar's team has repeatedly stressed the importance of disabling Ukraine's railway system (railway bridges in the west, lists of traction substations, substations at the border with #Poland, lists of depots and recovery trains), and bridges across the #Dnipro River.

Firing at all the above facilities is critical to cutting the connection between the left and right bank. Since the #Dnipro River has been turned into a natural dividing barrier by the decision of Sergei Surovikin, Commander-in-Chief of the Self-Defence Forces, and Russian troops are building defences on the left bank, it is highly logical to cut off all communication between the banks and cut off the supply of the enemy grouping in #Donbass and along the border with #Russia.

♦️What is the State of the Ukrainian Railway Network now?

▪️ Railway infrastructure facilities, despite intense fighting, are not subjected to not just massive but even sporadic strikes. This allows the enemy to ensure the uninterrupted transfer of armed forces and their supplies along the entire line of contact.

And isolated single strikes on troop loading/unloading points have no effect on this situation.

▪️ The volume of passenger traffic has hardly decreased. In fact, passenger traffic from the frontline towns continues: trains from #Kramatorsk are still running and passenger rail traffic to #Kherson and #Izyum has been re-established.

▪️ The volume of freight traffic has declined due to general problems with the Ukrainian economy and the shutdown of many industrial enterprises. Mostly fuel, coal and grain are transported.

The reduction in traffic has led to the emergence of a general reserve of locomotives (primarily electric locomotives), with which it is possible to reinforce the required transport direction if necessary.

♦️ What about Strikes on Energy Facilities?

Although there are no strikes on traction substations, this is more than compensated for by general strikes on the energy system. Entire lines are de-energized.

And shocks to the energy system also have a negative impact on road blocking systems, communications, maintenance, outfitting and repair facilities.

But railway workers have been able to adapt. At major stations with electrified railways, a reserve of diesel locomotives has been created. This helps minimize delays in case of breaks in the contact network. On direct current sections, diesel locomotive-electric locomotive units are used, which makes it possible to significantly reduce transport time.

♦️ What about the Condition of the Bridges?

Railway bridges over major rivers continue to function. Except for the rendering inoperable of the Antonovsky, Daryevsky and Kakhovskaya HPP bridges during retreat from #Kherson and undermining of bridges during retreat from #Kupyansk, #Izyum and #Lyman, none of the priority bridges have been struck since July.

So far the AFU has not rebuilt any bridges in #Cherkassy, near #Nikolaev at #Trikhaty village, in #Zatoka and #Voskresensk. So it is possible to put them out of action.

The railways remain operational and continue to successfully manage transportation for both national economy and military purposes. There has been no systemic impact on the railway infrastructure for almost half a year now.

The only negative impacts experienced during transport are solely related to power strikes, but these are so far surmountable. With a shortage of high-precision missiles and no bomber aviation capability, the number of targets is extremely limited.

⚡️🇷🇺🇺🇦🎤 Assessment - the AFU's Main Mistake⚡️

1. At one point, the Khokhlyas made a mistake after #Kherson. They went into euphoria. They took out too many personnel (about 50,000) for training and capacity building. This is the withdrawal and sending abroad of experienced units, the formation of airborne assault brigades and one of the ACs for the offensive.

2. The withdrawal of personnel from the front was superimposed on the depletion of supplies handed over to the EU. In the summer, when there was a lack of frontline density on our side, the AFU was doing well. Now it is not. On top of that, Western equipment is failing. For example, a German SAU after 50 rounds a day has to go to maintenance. It fires more. Accordingly, the wear and tear on the equipment has begun. Hands are ours too, the same people. It is the same with the artillery units, which in excess went for maintenance.

3. The factors have overlapped. This is military luck. The offensive at #Bakhmut resulted in very serious losses for the enemy. The AFU winter offensive was thwarted. The forces that were resting and preparing for offensive operations now have to patch up and hold the front to prevent it from breaking through at #Bakhmut and #Maryinka. If we play the situation right, we can talk about seizing at least a tactical initiative. It's a classic story, where several factors and a mistake by the enemy command overlapped.

4. The AFU defiantly hit the center of #Donetsk in order to pull our artillery, forcing it to work along #Avdeyevka, so that ours rush to #Avdeyevka again to plug their artillery.
We have a problem with counter-battery warfare with a shortage of technical forces and means. We do not have all the necessary systems and equipment due to the inertia of the command. If these means are used, they are used ineptly, and personnel are poorly trained. At the same time, the enemy is trying to force us to draw our attention away from #Bakhmut, from where they are withdrawing personnel. This is a combination of their mistakes and depletion of supplies. If we drop the #Dnipro bridges in the near future, we can say that closer to spring we will fight for the Left Bank.

5. West of #Ugledar conducted reconnaissance battle, taking the enemy's 1st line near Velyka Novoselka, and withdrew. So far, a large offensive here and a turn around of the right flank of the Donetsk AFU grouping is impossible. We need to press on #Bakhmut and look at the situation near #Maryinka, where there is urban fighting. After #Bakhmut and #Maryinka have been captured, the road is straight to #Konstantinovka, #Ugledar and the encirclement of #Avdeyevka.

6. We gain a tactical advantage before the spring-summer campaign. Judging by the withdrawal from #Bakhmut of 93rd Mechanized Brigade, the enemy is beginning to accept the loss of #Bakhmut. The main thing is to take advantage of the situation. Much depends on the command and the strategic plan, whether it exists at all. It is possible to really chock the Khokhol very nicely.

The RF Armed Forces have launched another massive missile strike on targets across #Ukraine.

▪️ In Kiev, CHPP-5, CHPP-6 and Darnitskaya CHPP were hit again. The underground was stopped, electricity was partially lost and water supply stopped.

▪️ #Zaporozhye region was hit by at least 12 strikes, local authorities said. In occupied #Zaporozhye, electricity and water were partially lost.

The engine room of the #Dnipro HPP was hit.

▪️ In #Kharkov, ground transport and the metro have come to a complete halt. There are disruptions in mobile communications. Partially there is no light and water. 7 strikes have hit the regional centre and 3 in the region.

▪️ In #Dnipropetrovsk region, there were explosions in #Kamenskoye and the regional centre. #Prydniprovska TPP is likely been hit again - traffic on Yuzhny Bridge opposite the TPP is blocked. The Prometey 330kV PS in #Kamenskoye is suspected been hit.

Explosions also occurred in #Pavlograd (likely the 330kV Pavlograd PS). Boiler houses and water supply are suspended in the city.

In #KrivoyRog, locals reported an explosion. Water and light were lost in the city. We already wrote that the Krivoy Rog TPP was shut down 1 1/2 month ago. Therefore, it is likely that either the Kirovskaya 330kV or Yuzhnaya 330kV PS was hit. In terms of logic, the Kirovskaya 330kV PS is most likely been hit - it supplies the water supply system.

▪️ There was a blackout in the #Cherkasy region. This could have been caused by both, the Polanyi 330kV PS being hit and the entire 330kV line along the Dnipro River being de-energised.

▪️ In #Kirovograd region, the Ukrainka 330kV PS was most likely hit. Pumping stations are shut down and power is lost. Several railroad sections are de-energized.

But the fact that the entire oblast is switched off could indicate that the 330kV switchgear of the Southern Ukraine NPP is down.

▪️ There are strikes in #Nikolaev and the region. Locals report power outages.

▪️ There are explosions in the #Ternopil region. There is only one 330kV Ternopil PS in the entire region.

▪️ In #Vinnitsa, shocks were also recorded. The Vinnitsa 330kV PS may have been hit.

▪️ An infrastructure facility in the #Odessa region has been hit. Power is partially lost in the regional centre.

▪️ In #Zhytomyr region, the Lesnaya 330kV PS in Korosten is affected. The PS bypassed the #Chernobyl NPP switchyard and supplied power to #Kiev from the #Rivne and Khmelnytskyi NPPs.

▪️ In the #Volyn, #Lvov, #Rivne, #Sumy and #Kherson regions, emergency blackouts occurred.

This is a direct consequence of the strikes in other regions. The same #Sumy is dependent on #Kremenchuk and #Kiev. And due to strikes on the Lesnaya 330kV PS, the Rivne NPP reactors could have shut down.

🩸Although the missile strike cannot be called the most massive in recent months, the number of missiles fired and the geography of targets is still impressive.

This confirms the systematic nature of the firing.

A new story has emerged in the Ukrainian infofield. People in chat rooms convince each other that the power was cut off before the strikes in order to mislead the enemy. Some even write that PPs are stopped on purpose for the duration of the raid.

There is no practical sense to be gained from such measures. But the Ukrainians believe such fables and convinces one another that the strikes by the RF are ineffective.

And this is not the case!
