As part of the ongoing preparations for Libya’s participation in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, a delegation from the Libyan Olympic Committee met with members of the organizing committee of this global event.

The Libyan delegation included Mohsen al-Sibai, First Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Olympic Committee and head of the Libyan sports delegation participating in the upcoming Olympics, and Louay Al-Jutaili, administrator of the Libyan mission in Paris 2024.

These meetings came to find out the latest preparations and procedures related to sports delegations participating in the Olympic Games, through meetings with representatives of the organizing committee and officials at the Libyan embassy in France.

These meetings aim to ensure Libya’s successful participation in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, by providing all the necessary facilities and support for Libyan athletes to achieve the best results in international sports competitions.

Public health scientists fear that the Olympics, scheduled to be held in Paris next July, could become a dengue “superspreader event.”

This fear comes after reports of a strange rash appearing among a number of tourists in France, which turned out to be the result of mosquito bites carrying the dengue virus.

Reported symptoms include muscle and joint pain, a burning sensation inside the eyes, and fatigue, which are classic symptoms of dengue fever. These symptoms usually appear between 24 to 48 hours after the bite of an infected mosquito.

Those affected also suffer from severe headaches, pain behind the eyes, facial redness, and muscle and joint pain, giving the disease the nickname “bone crusher,” in addition to nausea, vomiting, and skin rashes.
