What’s Happening with Our Wireless Technology Fellows? ⏳

The Moscow metro, one of the busiest in the world, traditionally arouses special interest among our fellows. However, this time they managed to penetrate deeper and get acquainted with its invisible side. Our engineers learned about wireless communication technologies in the Moscow public transport at a lecture organized by Transtelecom. 

TTK is one of the top-5 Russian telecommunications companies. It operates one of the largest fiber networks in Russia, which is more than 83 000 km long. TTK implements large-scale telecommunication projects and introduces a full range of telecommunication services for other state companies and end-users.

During the meeting, the participants discussed

💡technical arrangement of Wi-Fi and mobile Internet distribution systems in Moscow transport;

💡communication on short-distance and long-distance trains, the latter of which have a satellite communications access system;

💡software and multimedia platform implemented on Russian Railways trains;

💡the complexities of the technical arrangement of Moscow transport and prospects for further development.

But that is not all: each fellow is also working on individual projects tailored to his or her development path. Guided by mentors from the Skoltech Project Center for Next Generation Wireless and Internet of Things, they are tackling real-world challenges and contributing to the future of the industry.

Already this week we will lift the veil of secrecy and show innovative solutions developed by our engineers.

As autumn leaves begin to fall, Russia turns its attention to a very special group of people. Today, October 5th, is Teacher's Day – a celebration of the men and women who dedicate their lives to education.

This holiday has been observed in Russia since 1965, initially on the first Sunday of October. In 1994, it was officially moved to October 5th to align with World Teachers' Day. It's a day when students, both past and present, express their gratitude to teachers through kind words, flowers, and small gifts.

For us in the InteRussia program, this day holds a special significance. It's a chance to recognize not only school teachers but also the professional mentors who've guided our fellows through the fellowship.

Technological Odyssey Concludes at InteRussia ⚡️

Last month, Skoltech transformed into a vibrant home for bright minds from Azerbaijan, Ecuador, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Kazakhstan, Mali, Nigeria, Tunisia, and Sierra Leone. These are our fellows in the InteRussia in Agrobiotechnologies and Wireless Technologies. For four weeks, they've lived and breathed innovation, turning Moscow into their laboratory of ideas and cross-cultural exchange.

From Around the World to Siberia: Engineers' Journey Begins ⭐️

This week, a new chapter began at Novosibirsk State University — the official launch of the InteRussia fellowship for young engineers from Albania, Bangladesh, Belarus, Chile, Ecuador, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Pakistan, Serbia, Tanzania, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan specializing in AI in Medicine and Modern Quantum and Information Technologies in Electronics and Photonics.

In just a few days, our fellows have already begun exploring Siberia and its research ecosystem. Their first week included:

🔻a visit to the Technopark of Novosibirsk Akademgorodok to explore innovation hubs and scientific centers;

🔻a walking tour through Akademgorodok;

🔻and an excursion to the Institute of Cytology and Genetics, where they discovered groundbreaking advancements in genetics and medicine, as well as had the chance to get up close and personal with some of the amazing animals.

What’s Next?

Over the course of the month, the fellows will participate in advanced training modules, attend expert-led workshops, and dive into lab-based research alongside leading scientists. They’ll also work on projects, connect with local researchers, and present their findings at the end of the program.

Inside the Engineers' Siberian Routine 💡

For our InteRussia engineers, that’s just another week at Novosibirsk State University. Here, the boundaries between labs, classrooms, and the real world are blurred — because innovation doesn’t sit still.

So what does a “regular” day look like?

⭐️ Hands-on experiments at the Analytical and Technological Research Center, where fellows got up close with cutting-edge nanosystems and learned how multicomponent materials are actually synthesized.

⭐️ A deep dive into the Quantum Technologies Lab, where future-forward communication systems and quantum breakthroughs are born.

⭐️ A visit to the Federal Center for Neurosurgery, where fellows saw how high-precision engineering is transforming patient care and neurosurgical solutions.

⭐️ An excursion to the Novosibirsk Zoo — because even engineers need a recharge.

What do cutting-edge telecom systems, billion-year-old rocks, and horseback riding have in common? They all shaped the third week of the InteRussia fellowship in engineering — a journey that keeps pushing boundaries of learning and culture.

Let’s rewind the highlights:

🔗At Eltex, Russia’s largest telecom equipment producer, the fellows got an inside look at how high-tech systems are born — from blueprint to launch.

🔗At NSU’s Earth Evolution Center, they journeyed through time: from deep planetary layers to prehistoric fossils and meteorites that once lit up Earth’s skies.

🔗At the Cossack Ostrog Cultural Center, they experienced a day in the life of a Cossack — horseback riding, rifle practice, knife throwing, and tea in a traditional village house.

🔗At the Novosibirsk Planetarium, they traveled beyond Earth, exploring how space science and technology bring the universe a little closer to home.
