Student shot in Sai Wan Ho charged with three crimes
On 11 Nov 2019, 21-year-old student Chow was shot by a traffic police officer in Sai Wan Ho. Chow was subsequently charged with three crimes and the case was heard 2 Jun 2020.
Principal Magistrate Law Tak-chuen approved the request of anonymity of the prosecutor considering the harassment the officer and his family received. The media was barred from reporting any personal information about the said police officer.
Many citizens showed up at the court to support Chow. The two defendants, Chow and another 20-year-old male were released on bail. When they stepped out of the court, people chanted slogans to show their support. Joseph Zen Ze-kiun was present and hugged the two boys.

First riot trial ends in acquittal
For an event on 1 Oct 2019, 20-year-old student Lam Tsz-ho was charged with riot.
Judge Sham Siu-man suggested that he could not accept the testimonies of the two police officers because they lack credibility. The two officers did not mention a fire truck in the middle of the road, yet they remembered the defendant for not wearing a helmet. Judge Sham suggested that this was unreasonable.
Lam was found not guilty and he was acquitted with his riot charges.

Leung Kwan-yin denied Wu Chi-wai’s oral questions about the National Security Law
The NPC voted for the implementation of the National Security Law in Hong Kong last week. Democratic Party lawmaker Wu Chi-wai applied for questions on the LegCo meeting on Jun 3 concerning the protection of Hongkongers' rights and freedoms after its implementation.
Leung Kwan-yin replied to Wu that the implementation of the law was the responsibility of the central government, thus, the question was denied for not relevant to Hong Kong internal affairs.
Wu criticised Leung for having an unreasonable judgement. He suspected that Leung worked to comply with the Hong Kong government and silence the people. He accused the Leung for lying to Hong Kong people.

Raptor Police Contradicts himself while giving testimony
Three protesters were arrested during the police-citizen conflict on 28 July 2019. The police officer who made the arrest, Yim, changed his testimony several times during the hearing and was questioned by the defendant if he was lying. Yim first claimed he found respirators and helmets in the defendant’s backpack, and contradicted himself later by saying these objects were hung on the defendant’s bag. He also stated he was unsure of how the defendant climbed over a fence, and later said he remembered and demonstrated the action himself.
Yim stated that he did not receive any orders to make the arrest. The judge then questioned him why the arrest was not handled by a group of police who arrived at the scene earlier. The judge also questioned what made Yim felt he was responsible for making the arrest, to which Yim responded: "My initiative and instinct made me do so." The defendant counsel also pointed out that Yim was not the first officer to arrive at the scene, and he was not of the highest rank, making it unreasonable for him to make the arrest.

Hong Kong photographer Ko Chung-ming’s “Wounds of Hong Kong” was one of the finalists of the 2020 Sony World Photography Awards.
He started a crowdfunding to start another project recording the protest in Hong Kong, hoping to keep everything on record.
He was admitted to hospital twice due to the side effects of tear gas, so he had to step down from the front line and work on other positions. He suggested that photography is his common language with the world, that’s why he will keep on doing it. “I am from here. I tell stories from here,” he said.

The pro-democracy kidswear store #Chickeeduck is giving out free candles from June 2 to June 4, 2021, encouraging fellow citizens to commemorate the June 4th Tiananmen Massacre on their own.
The Tsuen Wan branch has prepared 1,000 sets of candle. The store also has electric candle that writes "Support the Tiananmen Mother" to give away. The storekeeper said they came from a Tsuen Wan district councillor.
When the Tsuen Wan branch of Chickeeduck was inaugurated in May 2021, the store was raided by the national security police. When asked whether they were afraid the same thing would happen, the storekeeper said, "we are not worried, we have been following the procedures."
The Hong Kong Police has for the second year in a row banned the annual candlelight vigil commemorating the victims of Chinese Communist Party's brutal crackdown on the pro-democracy rallies at Beijing's #TiananmenSquare in 1989.
