A poem in memory of Mr Leung Ling-kit

Mr Leung Ling-kit, sacrificed himself on 15/06/2019 trying to stop the Extradition Bill get pass.

"They will never understand
We are impossible to 'restart'
Last year today
He went on his path
And never came back"

We will never forget you, two millions plus one.
Your silhouette sealed in our hearts.
We will keep fighting until glory to Hong Kong.

Eastern Magistratesā€™ Court trial of Chan Yi-chun

(15 Jun) Chanā€™s mum gripped his arm tightly, and his girlfriend followed silently, worrying.

ā€œAs you could see from the news clips, he was severely beaten on the head. He lied down but they kept beating...ā€ Chanā€™s mum frowned and mumbled, grasping her sonā€™s arm in distress. She must have said it many times. ā€œYes we know, you should listen to what the lawyer has to say firstā€, Chan Yi-chun said to his mother. The legal team listened, and Chan himself understood that these were his motherā€™s concerns, not court testimony. Others understood as well and did not try to stop Chanā€™s mum from speaking.

ā€œAll we could do is to worry for him and support him.ā€ As a mother, she could only worry. Not to mention that it was the third day of trial and the situation was not hopeful. In the judgement, the judge said that the policeā€™s statement was ā€œunequivocalā€, ā€œsimple, directā€, ā€œsolid and consistentā€, therefore, it is ā€œthe truthā€. The defendant ā€œrepeatedly refused to listenā€ under the use of baton, and when faced with a ā€œstrong, forcefulā€ man like him, the officer was bound to use ā€œappropriate forceā€. ā€œFortunately the officer was wearing riot gear so there were no further casualtiesā€, the judge added (a rather ironic comment).

Chan was repeatedly crushed and beaten by police with baton, yet the judge said, ā€œThe defendant was conscious enough to call out his name even though he was bleeding from the head. These actions are considered as resistance, not self-defenseā€. Looking at the medical report, the judge asked, ā€œWas it the defendant who told the doctor that he was ā€˜hit on the head by a batonā€™?ā€. The judge continued to ask, ā€œWhy did he say this to the doctor? There is no evidence that these injuries were caused by a batonā€. Chan was convicted on all three counts.

Upon hearing the sentence, Chanā€™s girlfriend and mother were in tears, but Chan did not cry. He was immediately remanded in custody.

He took three deep breaths, nodded at the public gallery from afar, and gazed at his mother, girlfriend and friends. He didnā€™t take his eyes off them.

The prison van drove past and the crowd saw him off. Before the sentencing, Chan recorded a voice message:
ā€œAfter all, I fought for my freedom, although in the end I have lost it.ā€
ā€œIf I have decided to stay in Hong Kong, I have to accept its system and play by its rules.ā€

He is only a 19-year-old young man, and he has been convicted.

But at least he is a polite, truthful young man who is brave to face his future.

Feature for Personalising Apparel Disabled from NBA Official Online Store following Controversy on Restricting ā€œFreeHongKongā€ as Text Option

NBA Spokesperson: There Were Attempts to Print Hateful Messages

Many NBA players have been showing their support for the recent movements against systemic racial discrimination in the US, and the National Basketball Players Association has reached an agreement with the NBA to allow slogans supporting racial equality to be printed on the back of jerseys.  However, it was discovered last Monday that the NBA official online store had restricted apparel customisations that included the text ā€œFreeHongKongā€.

The website then briefly reopened orders for personalised apparel with ā€œFreeHongKongā€ and explained that there was a technical problem previously.  But four days later, the customisation feature was completely removed from the website.

An NBA spokesperson confirmed to Fox News that the apparel customisation feature was temporarily removed from the website since there were ā€œattempts to include violent, abusive and hateful messages on personalised NBA jerseysā€, yet no explanation was offered on the inappropriate language in question.  Republican Senator Josh Hawley accused the NBA of carrying out censorship like China and not daring to offend Beijing.

Fox News pointed out that before the ā€œFreeHongKongā€ controversy, the personalised apparel feature had allowed customisations of all sorts of texts, even violent messages such as ā€œKill Copsā€.

A Stand News reporter logged into the NBA website on Friday morning and found all personalised apparel had been taken off the shelf.  The only customisable item still available was the Los Angeles Lakers bear, but the text limit had been changed from 12 characters to 11, making it impossible to print the ā€œFreeHongKongā€ slogan.  However, ā€œFreeHKā€ was still a possible choice and the reporter was able to proceed smoothly to the shopping cart for payment.

Another official NBA online store operator, Fanatics, is also no longer offering personalised NBA apparel, but the website still offers personalised gear from NFL, MLB and other leagues.  Fans could still order apparel or gear with ā€œFreeHongKongā€ text, but ā€œKill Copsā€ or other such hateful texts were not accepted.

Experts have opined that the incident has shown NBAā€™s double standards in allowing stance that pertains to equality movements in the US but hesitating to touch on topics sensitive to China.

What is it about the phrase ā€œFree Hong Kongā€ that prevented NBA from customising it onto a shirt?
Answer is simple: RMB matters more than human rights.

Behaviour of a PRC eSports Player Reflecting CCP fierce Suppression of Freedom Speech and Panic of HK Affairs

(30 Jul) Famous PRC esports player (GameID: Mlxg at Chinese League of Legend team RNG) was firstly ridiculed by a S.Korean Player at his live boardcast in the late night of 28 Jul 2020, Mlxg fought back by saying ā€œu mom die (Your mom is dead)ā€, ā€œIā€™m your father.ā€

However, in the next game when Mlxg was mocked by another S.Korean Player who directly typed ā€œFree HongKongā€ in the dialogue box, Mlxg hurriedly deleted the dialogue box from his live screen and shut the game down immediately without any replies.

Seems itā€™s well-known by all PRC citizens that any speech touching on HK affairs will lead them into trouble; Mlxg's behaviour also reflects that the CCP's close monitoring of all online speech in PRC is already a publicly-known ā€œsecretā€.

Well, FREE HONG KONG!

The end of Hong Kong?

For many, the bell is tolling the death of democratic values in Hong Kong. Forty seven legislators have been charged with subversion under the Chinese government's national security law. And just last week, Beijing made changes to Hong Kong's election laws which would essentially only allow people loyal to Beijing to run for leadership.

Today, we bring you the stories of two members of the pro-democracy movement who have been watching these developments from Canada. Davin Wong, a student protest leader in Hong Kong, who's now studying law in Vancouver. And Philip, whose identity we are protecting, who sought asylum in Canada after being arrested on riot charges in Hong Kong in 2019.

Second Anniversary of Hong Kong's Pro-democracy Movement: #Faith in #FreeHongKong on #LionRock

June 9, 2021 marks two years since the 1-million-peopled march in protest of extradition to China took place in Hong Kong in 2019.

The record-breaking turnout kicked off the territory-wide pro-democracy movement that connects the local population together and changes the political landscape of the city.

On the evening of June 9, 2021, some pro-democracy citizens climbed up the local mountain Lion Rock and displayed LED lights that read "Faith" and "Free Hong Kong". The hand gesture "Five Demands, Not One Less" and the "liberate Hong Kong" flag could also be seen.
