Riot Police Filmed Assaulting Civilians; Ignores Journalists' Calls for Explanation

2204 | #TinShuiWai

Riot police assaulted civilians in the area between Buildings 1 and 2 of the +WOO shopping mall, where they kicked and knocked civilians over. The District Councilors tried to ask for an explanation from the police. Reporters were able to film the whole process of the police officers' physical assault on the citizens while claiming that the citizens had broken the law.

Instead of giving an explanation, the riot police and their PPRB (Police Public Relations Branch) employees ignored any questions that the district councilors and the journalists had, and simply walked away. When chased down by journalists, the PPRB staff stayed silent and simply stood between the journalists and the riot police. Other bystanders also demanded to speak with the commanding officer.
