Netizens initiated "Dragon Boat Festival - Shop with You" event in Yuen Long. After a short time of conflict, with police frisking and arresting civilians in mall, a group of riot police suddenly charged into the Mall at around 1900. They pepper-sprayed civilians and district councilor Lam Chun.
Some civilians felt unwell afterwards and received medical treatment. One of them pointed out in an interview that "someone in plaincloth" pepper-sprayed him twice, making him unable to open his eyes. The area around his eyes was red and swollen.

Earlier today in Yoho Mall, Yuen Long, police set up cordon line for stop and search operations, targeting the press. Student press representatives were not spared. Their belongings were thoroughly searched as a PPRB officer was seen going through photos taken by the student reporters. Mild clashes were reported as a female reporter was knocked over by an officer and fell to the floor.
At around 4pm, police arrested a total of 12 citizens at the scene including a student press representative for unknown reasons.

On Mother’s Day in May this year, a 12-year-old student reporter from Student Depth Media was arrested while covering a protest event in Tsim Sha Tsui. A month later, another 12-year-old student reporter from Heung Shing Daily was taken away from the protest site in Yoho Mall to Yuen Long Police Station for unknown reasons. He was released later that evening at 8pm.
In an interview, the student reporter claimed that he was walking behind police cordon line through a fire door when he was suddenly intercepted. One of the officers threatened to charge him with theft for failing to explain the origin of the items he possesses. However, he was eventually released without any charge. He believed the legitimacy of student reporters covering news on the protests. However, he also reminded fellow student reporters to be wary. He further added that he may no longer be present at protest sites to cover the news in near future.
Police later disclosed that the student reporter was taken away because he was regarded as a minor, being under the age of 15. They also claimed that the institution that he was volunteering with was not registered.

The personnel change was announced by Chief Executive Carrie Lam in Hong Kong and officiated by the State Ministry of the PRC in Beijing.
The "promotion" has stirred up discontent among the public. Many deemed it as a blatant manifestation of a "police state" in Hong Kong.
However, pro-Beijing lawmaker Alice Mak, of the Federation of Trade Unions, said, "If it’s a police state, why not? I don’t think there’s any problem with a police state."

Ukraine briefly joined a statement by over 40 countries, presented by Canada at the Human Rights Council in Geneva on Tuesday, urging China to allow immediate access for independent observers to Xinjiang. On Thursday, Ukraine pulled its name off the list of supporting states after Chinese authorities warned Kyiv that they would block a planned shipment of at least 500,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Ukraine unless it did so, said diplomats from two Western countries. The diplomats spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.
Ukraine has agreed to purchase 1.9 million doses of CoronaVac vaccine from China’s Sinovac Biotech. As of early May, Ukraine had received 1.2 million doses, according to Health Minister Maxim Stepanov.

//China pressured Ukraine into withdrawing its support for a call for more scrutiny of human rights in China’s western region of Xinjiang by threatening to withhold Chinese-made COVID-19 vaccines destined for Ukraine unless it did so, diplomats told The Associated Press on Friday, June 15, 2021.
Ukraine briefly joined a statement by over 40 countries, presented by Canada at the Human Rights Council in Geneva on Tuesday, urging China to allow immediate access for independent observers to Xinjiang. Some human rights groups have alleged Chinese mistreatment of Muslim Uyghurs and others in the region.
On Thursday, Ukraine pulled its name off the list of supporting states after Chinese authorities warned Kyiv that they would block a planned shipment of at least 500,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Ukraine unless it did so, said diplomats from two Western countries. The diplomats spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.
Ukraine has agreed to purchase 1.9 million doses of CoronaVac vaccine from China’s Sinovac Biotech. As of early May, Ukraine had received 1.2 million doses, according to Health Minister Maxim Stepanov.
In the past, China’s government has been no stranger to pressuring other countries in Geneva diplomatic circles or in national capitals either to line up behind its statements or avoid backing statements that criticize, question or seek scrutiny of human rights in the country...//
