24-Year-Old Man Arrested for Breach of Bail Conditions 5 Minutes Before Departure Allowed

A man involved in the PolyU "riot" case was at the airport last night and departed 5 minutes before the court's permission to leave Hong Kong took effect. He was arrested in breach of bail conditions and was detained to Kowloon City Magistracy in the morning. He was allowed to continue his bail under the original conditions. The magistrate stated that the defendant should depart at midnight, and the police had no discretion to let him leave.

The defense lawyer said that the 24-year-old defendant was scheduled to take a flight to Osaka University for exchange at 1 am. When he arrived at the departure hall at 11.55 last night, he was alleged to have violated the bail conditions by the immigration department. The defendant had no bailing paper on hand at that moment. The defense repeatedly emphasized that the defendant had reported to the police 24 hours before departure in accordance with the procedures, and the airport police knew that the defendant was allowed to leave Hong Kong on January 6.

15% more mainlanders into HK on eve of “fake customs shutdown”
Larger influx at some port than 6 closed ones combined

1630 #FakeCustomsShutdown #ChineseRushIntoHK

The HK government insisted to refuse to shut down the customs. Since midnight of today (30 Jan), restrictions on entry of mainlanders have been enforced at only 6 departure ports, including the High-Speed Rail HK West Kowloon Station, Sha Tau Kok, Man Kam To, Hung Hom, Tuen Mun Ferry Pier, and China Ferry Terminal. The effectiveness of such measures is being challenged.

According to statistics from the immigration department, the total volume of mainland passengers at all ports increased by 3,624 to 27,780, an increase of 15% from the day before to yesterday.

Most mainlanders arrived at HK via the Hong Kong Airport. Its passengers volume was 9,196, an increase of 28% from prior day. The second most was 4,695 at Shenzhen Bay, an increase of 11.3%. The third most was 4,343 at the Luohu port, which was also unrestricted, with an increase of 19%. The total of only these three ports far exceeded the total of the 6 ports where customs will be closed. The total of these three busiest ports reached 18,234 people, accounting for 65% of total passenger arrivals.

Chinese student breached Australian epidemic defense
Proudly lied about coming from Hong Kong and got away

Editor’s Note: Various commentators in Hong Kong brought up a very important point on 3 Feb. The reason why Carrie Lam is keeping Shenzhen Bay, Hong Kong Airport, and HZMB (Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge) open is very likely because she wants to make it easy for the powers and riches from mainland China to fly to elsewhere through Hong Kong. If they fly to other places, they will put down Hong Kong as the port of departure. Shenzhen Bay is very close to the Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport, and this port is also close to the Hong Kong International Airport. Therefore, aristocrats from mainland can take flights from different places to Shenzhen or Zhuhai, and through Shenzhen Bay or HZMB to the Hong Kong Airport, and then fly to anywhere in the world. These people may even hold Hong Kong or foreign passports, like Meng Wenzhou. Shenzhen Bay is usually used by the private cars with dual license plates (which general public are not able to get such license) from China and Hong Kong. That place is also close to the affluent neighbourhood of Nanshan, Shenzhen. Since a Chinese student in Australia lied about his port of departure and got away, other people are likely to follow suit, using Hong Kong as “white gloves,” that is, to hide their dirty hands using Hong Kong as a cover.

(3 Feb) One after another, many countries are imposing strict control over China as the novel coronavirus continues to wreak havoc around the world. Since 3 Feb, the Australian government began to ban visitors from mainland China from entering the country, except for Australian citizens and permanent residences. However, a Chinese student, in a bid to enter Australia, used fake information to evade the current immigration policy set by the Australian government and even told the media how he did it.

Sidney Today interviewed 3 Chinese students. One of those Chinese students K used fake information in order to enter the country. He said he made a transfer flight in Hong Kong on 1 February and arrived at Brisbane Airport at 11:45 PM. He learned about the travel ban in Australia after he landed. His classmates even teased him in text messages that he would be deported. Instead of getting deported, he changed the port of departure from China to Hong Kong. He proudly told the media that “Yes, the orange one! I crossed out China and changed it to Hong Kong.” As a result, he was allowed entry by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection, who didn’t even bother to check his luggages thoroughly.

Hong Kong Government Implement New quarantine Measures, Disorganising the Capacity of Existing Health Care System

Preventing the second wave of Coronavirus outbreak, the HKSAR government implemented new quarantine measures on Thursday, March 19, requiring all arrivals from abroad to undergo mandatory quarantine or medical surveillance for 14 days.

Student, nicknamed 'Y', has just returned from Finland and said the quarantine measures at the Hong Kong Airport were in disarray on the first day.

Upon his arrival in the morning, he informed the immigration officer that he had a mild cough. He was then taken to wait in isolation for further examination. The quarantine facility in the airport was roughly constructed and separated from other areas with fabric curtains. Only water and dry food were provided to 20 to 30 civilians in the quarantine area. No arrangement was made for them to retrieve their luggage.

Having waited for more than 10 hours, they were still not sent for medical inspection, due to the insufficient room in the hospital. Student Y criticised the arrangement as chaotic, as it was implemented without considering the capacity of the city's health care system.

Do you know what happened in Hong Kong on July 26, 2019?

The first ”fly with you” rally took place at the Hong Kong International Airport on 26 July, 2019 in protest of the authorities' plan to allow extradition to China.

Workers from the aviation industry and many civilians distributed posters in the arrival hall and explained to tourists Hongkongers' "five demands" in the anti-ELAB movement. Some participants used their bodies to imitate the Lennon Wall.

Back then, the airport was filled with tourists and businesses went on at the terminal.

Later on, the government obtained an interim injunction from the court, banning enty to the airport except having a boarding pass. Since then, no one can go see their friends and family off at the airport.

On the contrary, the government refused to close the border in face of the coronavirus outbreak. As the pandemic is hitting, the once bustling airport has become a barren island.

Despite #COVID19 Threats, #HongKongAirport to Allow Travellers from China to Make Transit to World Destinations, But Not the Other Way Round

In a statement released after midnight on August 13, the Hong Kong International Airport (#HKIA) announced that travellers from China could transit in Hong Kong and head to different destinations around the world. Despite the menace of the COVID19 pandemic, the aarrangement will be effective from 15 August to October 15, 2020.

Meanwhile, the statement also said "transfer/transit services to destinations in Mainland China will remain unavailable at HKIA". As travellers can leave but not enter China via Hong Kong, the travel restrictions on one side of the borders seem to suggest that China has imposed strict measures to prevent Covid-19 cases from entering the country.

Brave One-man Protester Commemorates Airport Protests Alone and Forcibly Removed by Security

Protestors occupied the Hong Kong International Airport (#HKIA) on this day in 2019 during Anti-Extradition Bill (Anti-ELAB) movement. Netizens initiated the one-year anniversary of the unforgettable airport protest as a “Lunch with You” protest at 1 pm on August 13.

However, the only person who showed up was David, a regular “Lunch with You” protester. When he arrived at the airport bus terminal station at noon, he was dressed in blue and quickly stopped and searched by a large amount of airport security guards.

Despite the security guards' order to leave the airport, David ignored their warning. At 1 pm, he took out a blank white paper, raised hands with a gesture of “Five and One”, and shouted slogans such as” “still alive, flight till the end,” and “five demands, not one less”.

During that time, security guards continued asking him to leave. But, he was discontented and said, “I am sightseeing here. Why can’t I stay here? I am waiting for the bus.” After that, dozens of security guards forced him to go to the bus stop and pestered him for some time. A security guard instructed him to get onto a bus going to Yuen Long and surrounded the exit to stop him from getting off. He clearly stated, “I don’t have money. If you don’t let me get off, this is false imprisonment. I have a right to get off.”

Before the bus started moving, six to seven security guards got into the bus suddenly, and staff in the bus station gave a signal to the bus driver to Leave. Then, the bus left.

#CathayPacific Staff Rally Against Sacking and Unfair Treatment Objected by Hong Kong Police

After sacking 5,300 Hong Kong-based staff members, Cathay Pacific demands its remaining employees to change to a new contract or face sacking.

Earlier, Cathay Pacific flight attendants' union has informed the police and applied for a rally permission at Cathay City on November 4. Two days before the rally, the police rejected the request.

The union criticized Cathay Pacific for mistreating their staff by firing them and cutting their salary. Communication with the management has been problematic and there are a lot of unsolved issues with the new contract. Many employees regretted signing it.

Although the rally has been rejected by the police, the union will find alternative ways to voice their opinion.

Since several pro-democracy rallies took place at the airport in August and September 2019, the Hong Kong Airport Authority has obtained an injunction order from the court, barring anyone who are not staff, nor passengers with a boarding pass from entering the Hong Kong airport.
