15% more mainlanders into HK on eve of “fake customs shutdown”
Larger influx at some port than 6 closed ones combined

The HK government insisted to refuse to shut down the customs. Since midnight of today (30 Jan), restrictions on entry of mainlanders have been enforced at only 6 departure ports, including the High-Speed Rail HK West Kowloon Station, Sha Tau Kok, Man Kam To, Hung Hom, Tuen Mun Ferry Pier, and China Ferry Terminal. The effectiveness of such measures is being challenged.
According to statistics from the immigration department, the total volume of mainland passengers at all ports increased by 3,624 to 27,780, an increase of 15% from the day before to yesterday.
Most mainlanders arrived at HK via the Hong Kong Airport. Its passengers volume was 9,196, an increase of 28% from prior day. The second most was 4,695 at Shenzhen Bay, an increase of 11.3%. The third most was 4,343 at the Luohu port, which was also unrestricted, with an increase of 19%. The total of only these three ports far exceeded the total of the 6 ports where customs will be closed. The total of these three busiest ports reached 18,234 people, accounting for 65% of total passenger arrivals.
