A small studio shared that after 15 months after the closure, 40% of their ex-members are insecure about their positions and 25% are completely unemployed (including several people, who found new places that also closed).
The 2025 is still not even close to a healthy industry. Too many talented people are staying low or switching to other industries.

And according to Bloomberg, Intel is planning to fire 21 thousand people next week, mostly management staff to link departments and teams closer to each other.
They already fired 19 thousand about a year ago. And by the end of 2024 they've had 108 000 workers left.

RuneScape? Rune-escape!
Jagex reported profit growth for the seventh year in a row at the end of 2022, four years after shutting down RuneScape Classic, ending a 17-year-old run. The studio was then acquired by private equity firms CVC Capital and Haveli Investments in February 2024. A month later, CEO Phil Mansell departed the studio after eight years. CVC Capital advisor and Jagex board member Jon Bellami then took helm of the studio.

According to IGN, Build a Rocket Boy launched the 45 days consultation after the failure of MindsEye.
The reason is purely legal: in the UK such a move is required before firing over 100 people. In total, the company has about 300 workers in the UK and 200 more in other locations.
Such a big studio was initially created to make a Roblox/UEFN competitor. The project was called Everywhere, but it's apparently dead on arrival. What's left of it was included into MindsEye.

As it was previously told, Microsoft has begun firing people (again). It has about 20 000 people in gaming divisions and want to cut this workforce by thousands.
King, Bethesda, and many other companies are among these cuts. It's the fourth big wave of layoffs in the last 18 months.
The total cut among Microsoft's teams (beyond gaming) is expected to be around 9100 employees out of 228 000. They were already planning to cut 7000 people in May (and it's unclear if these are two cuts or an extension).

Apparently, Bethesda was working on the online game that was supposed to utilize the new engine they have created. But it all got cancelled today. They also shut down the team behind Forza Motorsport and some other projects. I see dozens and dozens of postsβ¦
And here's the email from Phil Spencer: yeah, we make more money than ever, but it's all possible thanks to firing people who previously did a great job and helped us to establish this foothold in the industry. Very ugly phrasing, IMO.
