Do you wear a black ring? Is it useful?

I've been thinking of wearing a black ring as a useful tool to communicate my asexuality without a thousand and one awkward conversations. Also maybe as a bit of self expression. Who else has done this? Is it widely enough understood to be communicative?

A common expression when something is amazing is “it’s better than sex”. What would you replace “sex” with to make this saying apply to you?

Just curious, thought it would be a fun question. :)

Are asexual hookups a thing?

Cause at this point im so fucking lonely and touch starved that im starting to think about the fact that hookups are a thing. And i mean, theyre a thing that i want no part of cause, come on, thats just a really bad idea for so many reasons. But what if there could be hookups with no sex? Like instead of casual sex, what if there could just be casual makeout sessions and cuddling? Instead of meeting some dude whos supposedly hot or whatever at some dumb party where everyones at least half drunk and going way too far (not that that would ever happen even if i did put myself in position for it to), why cant i just meet some cute guy at the library or something who wants to kiss for a bit and then cuddle and holds hands? I just dont understand why casual sex can be a thing but just casual nonsexual (and yeah some could argue that kissing is sexual but for me its not, and no i dont get it either) physical touch cant. I just want all the hugs and kisses and just to feel another person, but im not willing to put myself in a dangerous situation and participate in something ive never understood and have no desire to do just to get that. And im kinda pissed off that thats society.

A-Café (Update #6) - Prototype Design is Underway

Welcome all to another Update!

\[For Context: A-Spec people are incredibly diverse, with varying relationship preferences and types of Aromanticism/Asexuality. We’re aiming to create an app that will help connect Asexual and/or Aromantic people across the world and give them the power to search for the specific relationships they want\].

The updates go as follows:

The UI/UX design process is well under way! We’re starting to get a better understanding of how A-Café should look and flow, and we’d love to see how you all feel about our progress! Here’s some screenshots of WIP pages, starting with the onboarding process:

We wanted to keep the default design simple but modern, especially for onboarding. (Onboarding is a process the User goes through when they are first introduced to the app).

3 pages from the A-Café prototype lay on top of a black background. They all include prompts for the User to answer, such as: \\"My Birthday is...\\" and \\"My Pronouns are...\\"

Continuing with the theme of simple but modern, we tried to emulate Instagram’s white background and thin icons, so that any photo added looks good against the color palette.

3 more pages from the A-Café prototype lay against a black background. These specific ones include the Homebrew \(or Home Page\), a page for Group search results, and a page offering information on an example group called \\"Darwin Gray-Artists.\\"

So, what do you think? I unfortunately don’t have enough pages colorized yet to offer an interactable prototype, but when I do I’ll post it (either in or outside of an upcoming update).

Besides that, that’s it for now! Thank you as always for reading, and if you’d like to get a closer look at the development process, feel free to join our discord!

Team chat shenanigans at work and... I came out.

So we work at our own computers in cubicles by ourselves all day. They only real social interaction we get is through the team chat on IM. To get to know each other/for convo, we've been doing personality quizzes and such. Our team lead sent kinda a joke quiz from Buzzfeed, "how gay are you?"

I was curious and wanted to see if it would represent aces so I took it and laughed to myself the whole time. It did not represent anything but the label 'gay' lol so people were chatting about their results and I debated mentioning my aceness and somebody else said it first!! I was so excited to see that, I then said something like "yeah, over here laughing in ace taking that quiz"

So the only other time I've said it outside of anonymous reddit was to one sister and now I guess I'm out at work! Which let's be honest is nearly anonymous here as well but hey, I'm getting used to saying it. Maybe I can tell more people in my life though.
