The situation is dire. Judging by respected Rybar's map, at this point the grouping's supply routes from Kupyansk have been cut off. The AFU did not need to reach the crossroads at #Veseloye east of #Balakleya. They chopped an artery to the north.
This leaves an inconvenient supply route from the east through Oskol, south of the reservoir. But Ukrainian units approaching from the north at #Senkovo will probably try to cross the river and cut off the road south towards Pesok-Redkovsky.
It also looks like they will target the road to #Rubezhnoye and #Svatovo to encircle #Kupyansk from the east. However, there is still the possibility of supplying the grouping from the LPR via the same Oskol. This is not a highway, of course, but I would not speak of encirclement at the moment.
For a complete encirclement, the enemy must cut off this possibility as well. And apparently to that end he is gathering forces and probing defences south of #Izyum in various areas.
Yesterday, for example, the AFU attacked west of Malaya Kamyshevakha with up to a battalion, 6 tanks and 4 APCs. Here is what they wrote to me from there: "Six tanks and four APCs came at us. The border territories of northeastern Ukraine:

#Kharkov Direction:
▪️ This morning, Ukrainian militants shelled a convoy of five refugees in the #Kharkov region on their way from #Kupyansk to Russian-controlled territory. According to some reports, about 30 people were killed, including children.
#Lyman Direction:
▪️ Ukrainian Forces continue to develop operational success in the defence area of the troops of the Western Military District of the Russian Armed Forces and the People's Militia of the Luhansk People's Republic.
▪️ By midnight, the AFU had managed to effectively encircle #Lyman. From the north, #Stavka is occupied, there is fighting in #Zarechnoye, and the Lyman - Torskoye route is under constant enemy fire. From the south there is an assault on #Yampol.
If the Russian command does not take decisive action within 24 hours, #Lyman will meet the fate of #Balakleya. The defenders of the city, represented by the BARS reservist units, the LPR People's Militia and the 20th Combined Army of the RF, will be completely cut off from the main group. If they are destroyed in the town, the entire defensive potential of the Allied Forces in this section of the front will be wiped out.
The capture of #Lyman will open the door for the AFU to #Svatovo and then to #Kremennaya and #Rubezhnoye. Which line the new front will follow is not yet clear.
#Bakhmut (Artemovsk) Direction:
▪️ Wagner PMC assault units are fighting fiercely on the outskirts of #Bakhmut and #Soledar as well as in the villages of #Zaitsevo and #Otradovka on the southern flank of this section of the front.
#Lugansk Region:
▪️ During the day, Ukrainian forces shelled the village of Zolote-5 with HIMARS and destroyed the local House of Culture. In addition, Kremennaya, #Svatovo and #Vrubovka were hit.
#Donetsk Direction:

Engineering equipment is being actively used to build fortifications. Reactionary and barrel artillery is taking up positions behind the line of battle.
The Ukrainian armed forces regularly probe the Russian defence line: they operate in small sabotage and reconnaissance groups (SRGs) and attempt to provoke Russian artillery fire and identify its location.
In addition, the Ukrainian military is using long-range MLRS. For example, on the morning of 7 October, the Ukrainian armed forces fired HIMARS at the interchange between #Rubezhnoye and #Kremmenaya.
The Ukrainian military is currently most active to the north of #Svatovo, planning to bypass and encircle the city this way. The 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the AFU is attempting to enter the area of #Pershotravenskoye, #Kislovka, #Tabayevka, #Berestovoye (approximately 40 km north of #Svatovo).
At the same time, the Ukrainian armed forces are concentrating their forces around #Makeevka, located between #Svatovo and #Kremmenaya. The 17th Tank Brigade and the 25th Airborne Brigade are pulling up their reserves there.

The highlight of the day was a series of strikes against energy infrastructure across Ukraine, including #Kiev. around 200 air- and sea-launched cruise missiles and a number of bomber munitions were fired at the targets.
During the attack, thermal power plants, substations and combined heat and power plants were hit in the eastern, central and western regions. Water and electricity supplies failed completely in some areas. Ukrainian air defences shot down several targets from the air, but were unable to repel the attack.
#Russian Federation - Border Areas:
▪️ Ukrainian militants shelled #Konoplyanovka, #Shebekino and #Masychevo in the #Belgorod region and the village of #Tetkino in the #Kursk region. One woman was killed and several others were wounded.

▪️ In the #Svatovo area, Ukrainian formations conducted a reconnaissance battle on the #Raygorodka - #Kovalevka line. Russian Forces repulsed the attack. The enemy suffered losses and withdrew its tanks to the #Borovaya area due to a lack of fuel and lubricants.
▪️ In the #Lyman sector, the AFU continues preparations for a large-scale offensive on #Kremennaya from the #Torskoye - #Terny line.
▪️ During the attack on 22 October, the enemy managed to approach #Krasnopopopovka, but the Russian soldiers of the 20th Army beat back the attack and regained almost all the lost positions. ▪️ Soldiers of the 46th Separate Assault Battalion of the 53rd Mechanized Brigade, supported by artillery, attempted to flank the Russian Forces from the direction of #Kleshcheevka. The attack was repulsed.
▪️ In the #Seversk sector, units of the AFU´s 10th Mountain Assault Brigade conducted a reconnaissance battle near #Serebryanka, but withdrew under fire from Russian Forces.
#Lugansk Region:
▪️ Ukrainian militants shelled #Starobelsk, as well as #Rubezhnoye, #Svatovo and #Novoaidar with HIMARS MLRS.
#Donetsk Direction:
▪️ There have been no significant changes in the front lines over the past 24 hours. After capturing all the AFU strongholds on the outskirts of #Opytnoye, Sparta Battalion fighters are preparing to storm the village.
▪️ Ukrainian militants shelled #Donetsk, #Kashtanovoye, #Маkeevka, #Yasinovataya, #Gorlovka, Krasny Partizan and other settlements in the agglomeration.

▪️ The AFU continues to prepare for a major offensive. Several units of the AFU´s 65th Mechanized Brigade have been deployed to the #Gulyaypole section.

▪️ At the same time, the AFU is increasing its grouping in the #Vremevka outpost. Two units of the 77th Airmobile Brigade formed in #Zhytomyr region have arrived in Bolshaya Novoselka. A tank platoon, a mechanised company and 20 pickup trucks with personnel have been transferred to #Uspenovka.
On the morning of 23 October, AFU militants carried out a missile attack on a hotel on the eastern outskirts of #Energodar, where Rosenergoatom staff is living. The building was damaged but there were no casualties.
#Nikolaev - #Berislav Direction on Southern Front (MAP):
▪️ There is no significant change in the situation in the #Kherson region. After several failed attempts, the AFU is replenishing losses and conducts reconnaissance of Russian positions before the next assault.
▪️ In the #Berislav area, Russian soldiers blockaded and captured a sabotage group of the AFU´s 17th Tank Brigade in its full strength on the #Pyatikhatka - #Polyanka line.

▪️ Mobilised men trained at training groundsin Western #Ukraine have been moved to the #Orekhov sector. They have formed assault units with BGM-71 TOW ATGMs.
▪️ At the same time, the AFU is increasing its grouping in the #Vremevka outpost. Two units of the 77th Airmobile Brigade formed in #Zhytomyr region have arrived in Bolshaya Novoselka. A tank platoon, a mechanised company and 20 pickup trucks with personnel have been transferred to #Uspenovka.
On the morning of 23 October, AFU militants carried out a missile attack on a hotel on the eastern outskirts of #Energodar, where Rosenergoatom staff is living. The building was damaged but there were no casualties.

▪️ There is no significant change in the situation in the #Kherson region. After several failed attempts, the AFU is replenishing losses and conducts reconnaissance of Russian positions before the next assault.
▪️ In the #Berislav area, Russian soldiers blockaded and captured a sabotage group of the AFU´s 17th Tank Brigade in its full strength on the #Pyatikhatka - #Polyanka line.
▪️ In the #Andreevka sector, a SRG of the 46th Separate Airmobile Brigade tried to entrench itself in the area north of #Ishchenka. Russian troops detected the movement of the Ukrainian group and carried out artillery strikes on the advance areas, forcing the enemy to retreat.

▪️ Combined assault groups of the 1st Battalion of the 92nd Mechanized Brigade and the 233rd Battalion of the 128th Territorial Defence Brigade attempted an assault on #Kuzemovka. Russian forces stopped the advance with artillery and aerial fire.
#Lyman Sector:
▪️ The assault group of the 66th Mechanized Brigade's 1st Battalion, reinforced with armoured vehicles, attacked the Russian positions in the direction of #Makeevka. The attack was repulsed.
▪️ At the same time, assault groups of the 90th Battalion of the 81st Airmobile Brigade and the 2nd Battalion of the 25th Airmobile Brigade of the AFU tried to break through the defensive lines in the direction of #Rubezhnoye. Artillery fire from the Russian forces pushed the AFU militants back to their initial positions.

🩸 Russian forces have again carried out massive attacks on Ukraine's critical infrastructure today.
▪️ Energy facilities in #Odessa, #Vinnitsa, #Dnepropetrovsk and the #Kiev region were hit.
In addition, the Shebelinsky State Bearing Plant near #Balakleya in #Kharkov region, a mining facility in #Kiev region, a Yuzhmash workshop in #Dnepropetrovsk, a logistics hub in #Ochakov, and a military unit at #Zastava in #Odessa were also hit.
