🇨🇳🇺🇸 China slammed the US for stirring up lab leak theory on Covid-19 origins

Beijing
has hit back at the United States for once again stirring up the lab leak theory on the coronavirus pandemic, calling on it to stop “smearing China” and “politicizing the origins of Covid”.

It followed American media reports, citing classified intelligence provided to Washington, that said the US Department of Energy had concluded that a Chinese laboratory leak was the most likely cause of the pandemic.

Relevant parties should stop stirring up the theory of laboratory leaks, stop smearing China, and stop politicizing the origins of Covid,” the Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said.

🇹🇼🇨🇳 Taiwan reports 19 Chinese planes in its air defense zone

Taiwan's
defense ministry said on Wednesday it had spotted 19 Chinese air force planes in its air defense zone in the past 24 hours.

According to the authorities, 19 J-10 fighters had flown into the southwestern corner of the island's air defense identification zone, or ADIZ, though closer to the Chinese coast than Taiwan's.

The aircraft did not cross the sensitive median line of the Taiwan Strait, which previously served as an unofficial barrier between the two sides.

🇨🇳🇺🇸 China opposes US adding Chinese firms to trade blacklist

China opposes the United States adding several Chinese firms to its trade blacklist, China's commerce ministry said on Friday. Beijing urges Washington to stop using any excuse to suppress Chinese firms.

The US Commerce Department, which oversees export controls, recently added two units of genetics company BGI to the export control list over allegations that the units pose a "significant risk" to contributing to Chinese government surveillance.

🇹🇼🇨🇳 Taiwan warns of China's repeated provocations, China tells US not to cross red line

Taiwan
will not allow "repeated provocations" from China, the island's defense minister said on Tuesday, as China's foreign minister said Taiwan was the "first red line" that must not be crossed in Sino-US relations.

"The Chinese communists use any reason to send troops," Chiu Kuo-cheng said. "But we won't just say 'bring it on'. We will take a peaceful and rational approach."

This was a response to Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang’s words that it was "absurd" for US officials to say that Taiwan is not an internal affair of China's, because this question is the core of the core interests of the country. That is why it is the first red line that must not be crossed in China-U.S. relations.

🇨🇳🇨🇦 China accuses Canada of smearing over secret police stations

China on Friday accused Canada of smearing its reputation over allegations China is secretly operating two overseas police stations in Quebec.

Canada should “stop sensationalizing and hyping the matter and stop attacks and smears on China,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said at a daily briefing. The spokesperson did not comment on the existence of the police stations or whether they were operated by Chinese government authorities.

Canadians of Chinese origin have been victims of activities carried out by the stations, Sgt. Charles Poirier of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said Thursday.

America's role as the global leader is waning as the US gets caught up in issues like sanctioning Uganda for passing an anti-LGBTQ bill while its adversaries, like #Russia and #China, strengthen ties with African countries. It's gotten to the point where even the Taliban and the Mexican president have publicly called out the US for its double standards on democracy and human rights.

🇺🇸🇨🇳 Blinken heads to Beijing

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will hold meetings in China on June 18-19 and may meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping, sources said. He will be the highest-ranking US government official to visit China since President Joe Biden took office in January 2021, and the first secretary of state in five years.

In a pre-trip briefing on Wednesday, US officials said they have no expectation the trip will yield a breakthrough in how the US and China deal with each other.

Blinken told a news conference on Friday the US side would speak candidly in China about "very real concerns" on a range of issues and said the trip was aimed at establishing "open and empowered" communications.

In China, for the first time, flight tests of the upgraded fifth-generation J-20 fighter with national-made WS-15 engines were carried out.

The PLA reports that two Chinese warplanes made contact with a pair of US F-35 Lightning II fifth-generation fighters over the East China Sea and performed a simulated kill maneuver.

The type of their aircraft is not reported, but we can talk about fifth-generation J-20 fighters.

The statement specifically emphasizes that the Chinese fighters went after the Americans, who tried to "drop" them, but could not.

No doubt the US will make a statement about how ‘unprofessional’ they were.
