Dogs use “puppy eyes” to manipulate us
When wolves have been domesticated about 27 000 years ago, it could have gone in one of two ways. Either we have initiated it, or wolves have decided to adapt to new conditions and learn to live close to us, or maybe both are true - we don’t know for sure. What we do know is that our four-legged friends have solidified our partnership with a bit of emotional manipulation. The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) have found out that dogs’ facial anatomy has evolved over millennia, and modern dogs have something that wolves lack - strongly developed eye muscles (except for Siberian Huskies due to their close relation to wolves). When dogs see humans, they instinctively raise their eyebrows, mimicking human facial expressions. This has subconsciously made our ancestors prefer dogs who appeal to them. Just look at a poor little Corgi or Pug - it really melts your heart, doesn’t it?

Dogs have a superhuman sense of hearing!

Dogs have extremely good hearing, being able to discern sounds as high as 47 000hz and up to 65 000hz! Thanks to this ability they can predict natural disasters and get spooked easily by sharp and loud noises.
