Yorkshire Terriers are an old and regal breed. Long before they became the highly decorated lapdogs of Victorian ladies, Yorkies were used to catch rats at mines and mills.Their floor-length, silky coat of steel blue with a deep golden tan gives Yorkshire Terriers a truly noble appearance. Don't be fooled by their cuteness, though. Yorkshire Terriers are tenacious, feisty, bold, and bossy dogs - all characteristics of a true terrier. They provide their owners with years of love, fun, and close companionship.
Meet our CoinDog Yorkshire Terrier, CHANDLER CRYSTAL:
“Top o' the mornin' to ya! I'm Chandler Crystal. I love waking up early then indulging in long afternoon naps. Rolling in manure? No way! My coat is too precious! You'll often find me walking into my favorite pet store like I own the place. I'm looking for someone to share my collection of artisan rawhide with!” 😄

Let`s talk about Golden Retrievers! 🐾

The Golden Retriever is a medium-sized, strong dog with a glossy, shiny golden coat of fur which gives the breed its name. Its hallmark is a large head, with a kind and intelligent look in the eye, short ears, and a straight nose. They have a fluid, energetic gait, and merrily waggle their fluffy tails as they walk.

Golden Retrievers are easy-to-train family dogs who are outgoing, trustworthy, and eager to please. They have joyful and lighthearted personalities, even as adults. Outdoor play is their favorite pastime. Swimming and fetching are natural activities for a breed created to retrieve ducks for hours on end.

What does your dog want to tell you when it barks? Nowadays researchers, such as authors in Scientific American, have discovered that by changing how their barks sound like dogs can send different messages. Dog barking spectrograms show how changes in length, pitch, and amplitude depend on various scenarios. The same can be said about growling.
Even though we don’t know what exactly different barks and growls mean, experiments show that dogs react differently to sounds made by other dogs. For instance, one of these experiments involved recording dog growling during eating and growling at a stranger. Then, the researchers have offered another dog treats and played recordings of both growls. Surprisingly, it reacted more hesitant when listening to “eating” growls than to “stranger” ones. Further experiments showed that both dogs and humans tend to react more strongly to “stranger” growls than any others.
Hi there!
Today, let`s talk about hero dogs 🦸‍♂️
Debbie Parkhurst was eating an apple at home when a piece became stuck in her throat. She realized she was choking and began pounding her chest in an attempt to dislodge it. Toby, her Golden Retriever, noticed her strange behavior and leaped to his feet, placing his paws on her shoulders. He pushed her to the ground and jumped up and down on her chest, causing the piece to fall out. He then licked Parkhurst's face in an attempt to keep her awake. It's unclear how Toby came up with this modified Heimlich maneuver, but his bravery earned him a Dog of the Year award.
What a hero! What do you think?

Can you guess which of the following statements are true and which are false?
Give it a try 😉
№1 Because dogs' noses can detect heat/thermal radiation, they can hunt even when blind or deaf 💪🏻
№2 Yawning is contagious for dogs as well. According to studies, the sound of a human yawn can cause a dog to yawn as well 🙃

№1 If a dog has a wet nose, it means it’s healthy👃🏼
№2 The Australian Shepherd is actually an American breed, not an Australian breed ☝🏻
№3 When resting, dogs roll up in a ball to protect their organs, a habit from their days in the wild when they were susceptible to predator attacks 😴

Let`s talk about Shiba Inus! 🐾
The Shiba Inu is an old Japanese breed that is a small but muscular dog that used to be a hunting companion for a long time. The energetic, good-natured Shiba has become not only Japan's most popular companion dog but also famous worldwide thanks to memes. Shibas are equally comfortable in cities and the countryside.
Shibas’ white markings, paired with red, red sesame, or black and tan coloration, alert demeanor, and graceful stride, give them an adorable, foxlike appearance. They're strong, enduring canines with confident personalities to match.

Have you heard about Paris, an environmental enthusiast from England?
Paris, a Boxer from Cornwall, England, may not be known for some outstanding feats of heroism, but she plays an important role nonetheless. Paris collects cans and plastic bottles on her walks and dumps them in the nearest recycling bin. And that’s not a result of training - helping the environment just came naturally to her!
What do you think about Paris? What do you do to save the environment?

Dogs use “puppy eyes” to manipulate us
When wolves have been domesticated about 27 000 years ago, it could have gone in one of two ways. Either we have initiated it, or wolves have decided to adapt to new conditions and learn to live close to us, or maybe both are true - we don’t know for sure. What we do know is that our four-legged friends have solidified our partnership with a bit of emotional manipulation. The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) have found out that dogs’ facial anatomy has evolved over millennia, and modern dogs have something that wolves lack - strongly developed eye muscles (except for Siberian Huskies due to their close relation to wolves). When dogs see humans, they instinctively raise their eyebrows, mimicking human facial expressions. This has subconsciously made our ancestors prefer dogs who appeal to them. Just look at a poor little Corgi or Pug - it really melts your heart, doesn’t it?

Let`s talk about Border Collie! 🐾
The Border Collie is an amazing dog. Perhaps a little too amazing for owners who don't have the time, energy, or money to keep it engaged. When the job is done, these lively dogs will settle down for some snuggle time.
The overall appearance is that of a robust but nimble worker who is unaffected by fashion trends. Both the rough and smooth coats are available in a wide range of colors and patterns. The almond eyes are the focal point of an intelligent face, and the Border Collie's famous 'herding eye' is a breed trademark. Borders' intellect, athleticism, and trainability are all well-suited to agility training. Border happiness is dependent on having a job to do, such as work: https://www.instagram.com/coindogs/

Do dogs have good hearing?
Dogs have extremely sharp hearing, which has helped our four-legged companions for millennia. According to Petful, dogs can hear sounds at four times the distance of the human ear! They can even use each of their ears individually, focusing on specific sounds. Dogs on average have 18 muscles moving each ear - three times more than humans! Dogs can hear different frequencies too, hence why they react to whistle sounds so strongly while we can’t hear anything. And finally, their hearing is selective, meaning they can choose whether or not to ignore you when you call them!

Let`s talk about Maltese! 🐾
The Maltese are small dogs from the “toy” group. They have long, straight, silky fur coats that can weigh up to eight pounds.
Their tiny bodies move with a smooth and fluid step, which, coupled with a flowing mantle-like fur coat is a sight to behold. The attractive Maltese face may win over even the most jaded person with its huge, dark eyes and black gumdrop nose. Maltese, despite their aristocratic appearance, are surprisingly tough and adaptable dogs. They are vigilant and fearless (albeit rather ineffective) watchdogs, as well as competitive agility athletes. Maltese are low-shedding, long-lived dogs who like meeting new people. They react well to reward-based training, despite being difficult and defiant at times.

How fast can dogs run?
Dog speed varies from breed to breed and is also dependent on their size, body shape, leg length, age, and health condition. A Greyhound (the fastest dog breed in the world), for instance, can reach an average speed of 72 km/h (44 mph), and some individual athlete dogs can reach up to 80,5 km/h (50 mph)! This is all thanks to the aerodynamic shape of their body, even though other breeds can make themselves more aerodynamic in motion and/or move their ears close to or behind their heads. There’s also a big difference between how dogs move their legs when they walk (moving right and left ones in unison) and run (leaping with their legs pushed together).

Why there are so many dog breeds?
Dogs are one of the most diverse species on the planet. The Kennel Club has identified 218 different breeds, not counting regional variants, designer hybrids, mixed breeds, and mutts!
Genetically, dogs have branched out from wolves around 27 000 years ago. Nobody knows when our ancestors have started to selectively breed dogs with certain characteristics, but thanks to that we have such diversity today. In the 19th century, selection became more frequent and active, applying a scientific approach to yield both aesthetically pleasing and useful results. Hunting, herding, racing, or simply looking stunningly beautiful - our furry companions can do it all!
