๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ (30/6/1969) Palestinian PFLP Leader Major Abu Ali Mustafa

Footage : 30 Jun 1969 Leader of Popular Front For Liberation Of #Palestine Major Abu-Ali interviewed in #Amman on his organization's furture plans

Abu Ali Mustafa was a Palestinian leader who lived and died defending the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people.

In August 27, 2001, a U.S-made Israeli army Apache helicopter fired two missiles into his office, blowing him to pieces. This was one of many targetted assassinations of Palestinian leaders, one component of Israel's brutal and consistent policy of ethnic cleansing being carried out against the Palestinian people.

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine

In the wake of the 1967 Six Day War and the occupation of the West Bank by Israel, Palestinian Christian George Habash, established the PFLP, a resistance movement that combined Arab nationalism with Marxist-Leninist ideology.

During the 1960s and 1970s, the group gained notoriety for a series of armed attacks and plane #highjacks, most notably with the capture of an Air France plane in 1967. Among the most prominent members of the group is Leila Khaled, who became an iconic symbol for Palestinian resistance and female power after she highjacked a plane headed from Rome to Athens in 1969.

In the 1970s, after #Fatah โ€“ the leading secular Palestinian political party founded in 1959 by #YasserArafat and others, the #PFLP has consistently been the second-largest of the groups forming the #PLO, the umbrella organisation of the Palestinian national movement.

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ Tell Your Tale, Little Bird (2007) | Palestine Film Institute - Documentary, 1h 30m

Seven militant women (#fedaiyat) of the revolutionary generation tell the story of the Palestinian resistance through accounts of their own lives.

Cut from 35 hours of interviews with leaders of the armed struggle, the film presents an image of confident, unapologetic and proud feminine identity.Together, the memories of these women narrate the dream of a generation, yet unrealized.

Tell Your Tale, Little Bird is a testament to the power of remembrance, positioning memory as an essential element of feminist struggle. The film reminds us that this oral tradition may carry recollection of past resistance, but it is in the very practice of retelling womenโ€™s stories that the political act has persisted.

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine ( DFLP) 1969-present | Palquest

The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (#DFLP) was founded in February 1969 when members within the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (#PFLP) decided to secede from the organization and to form a separate group. Intellectual and political differences had begun to appear within the PFLP just a few weeks after its first general congress was held in August 1968.

Throughout the DFLP's history, its fighters have carried out high-level operations deep inside occupied Palestine launched from โ€œanchor pointsโ€ that were established in #Jordan, the #GolanHeights , and Southern #Lebanon . They also fought in battles to defend the Palestinian #resistance in #Jordan, during the Lebanese Civil War and the Israeli Invasion of Lebanon in 1982, and in the โ€œWar of the Camps โ€ in Lebanon and to repel the Israeli military attacks on the #Gaza Strip.

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ Gaza, Guevara and resistance against occupiers (1973)

Former Israeli Minister of Defence Moshe Dayan once said, โ€œWe run Gaza by day, and Guevara and his comrades run it at night.โ€ His words summarise the courage of the people of the Gaza Strip, their steadfastness and their resistance against the occupiers.

After the Israeli army occupied Gaza in 1967, Al-Aswad became a leader in the Vanguard for the Popular Liberation War, a group known as As-Saโ€™iqa, and then a leader in the #PFLP.

Mohammed #AlAswad was arrested on 15 January, 1968 and imprisoned for two and a half years. He was released in July 1970, after which he resumed his struggle within the ranks of the PFLP and was kept busy preparing, training and educating military groups. He became the commander of the PFLP military action in the Gaza Strip until his death just over two years later. โ€œGuevaraโ€ was martyred in #Gaza on 9 March, 1973, following a confrontation with the Israeli army.

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ Rona Sela : History Suppressed Censorship in Israel's archives | The Listening Post - 2018

Sealed in Israel's archives and libraries are troves of Palestinian books, documents, photographs and films that were looted from Palestinian institutions and personal archives by Jewish militias and later, the IOF.

"This confiscation is a kind of daily struggle that Palestinians face," says Sherene Seikaly, a scholar of Middle Eastern history. "One of the reasons, that these archives are a target, that they're threatening, is because they're really a record of Palestinian social life, and Palestine more broadly."

Israeli historian #RonaSela has spent 20 years uncovering Palestinian visual history that has been kept in the dark in Israel's state and military archives. She says the methodical plunder of Palestinians' cultural assets predates the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948, what Palestinians call the 'Nakba' or 'catastrophe.'

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ " The looting and seizure, as far as I found, started in the 1930s in a systematic and organised manner ... by #Haganah forces [#Zionist paramilitary group]. The seizure intensified, of course, with the #Nakba in 1948. I found materials taken in 1967, 1982, 1991 and ... in the last few years."

What begins with #looting and appropriation, continues with a system of censorship and historical revisionism in the archives. The origin of Palestinian material is often erased and replaced with terminology that fits the archivist's world view.

"I saw photos with comments and notes written on them by the censors and archivists. For example, Palestinians are described as 'terrorists', as 'gangs'. Seeing all of that taught me about how the materials go through a process of rewriting to aid or benefit the Zionist narrative," says Sela. "You see a place where the materials are being censored and erased from the public sphere."

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ Palestinians see the #censorship as part of a wider trend of physical and #cultural erasure that began in 1948 and has continued ever since. Concealing the archival record denies them the tools to communicate their own #history, what the Palestinian intellectual and literary theorist #EdwardSaid called "permission to narrate."

"The fact that these #documents have been taken away from Palestinian hands is a sign of contempt for Palestinian history," says Yazbak. "It's an attempt to suggest Palestinians have no history, no documents, no belongings."

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ โ€œLooted & Hiddenโ€: Israel's Futile Attempts to Erase Palestinian History | Institute for Palestine Studies โ€“

Israel sought to bury prints and film reels that proved false the Zionist claim that Palestine was โ€œa land without a people.โ€

Rona Selaโ€™s film โ€œLooted & Hiddenโ€ delves into the history of Palestinian #photography and cinema archives that were looted by Israeli soldiers and civilians during the 1948-49 Nakba and the 1982 siege of Beirut. Constructed as a film-essay told through a series of narrated letters exchanged between Sela and Palestinians who share a connection with the stolen material, the film brings to life a rich visual #archive Israel has sought to hide from public view. The documentary unfolds against a rolling backdrop of images unearthed through years of researching Israeli military archives and sheds light on a rarely scene dimension of Palestinian struggle against erasure.
