🇵🇸 We Had Dreams

Visualizing Palestine is grateful to an anonymous friend who designed and created: “We Had Dreams: The Gazans Living and Dying Under Siege.” With this resource, we uplift the testimonies of Palestinians in Gaza, who have been demonized and dehumanized by the mainstream media as well as Western politicians.

🇵🇸 This is how Israel achieves its goal of preserving Jewish supremacy | Btselem - August 2023

Killings, pogroms, expulsion: Israel dispossesses Palestinians of their lands using settler violence.Terrorized by settlers, a fourth Palestinian community is forced to leave in the past three months. The settlers have also taken over the community’s farm fields and prevented them from grazing their flock on their land.

Al-Qabun is the fourth community in the area that has had to flee due to Israeli policies, which force impossible conditions on local residents in order to push them to leave, thus clearing the way for it to take over their lands and transfer them to Jewish hands. These policies include banning residential and infrastructure construction, including water, electricity and roads; establishing and financially supporting settlements on Palestinian lands; and violent attacks by settlers on an almost daily basis. All of these are aimed at upholding, preserving and empowering Jewish supremacy.

🇵🇸 Israel-Palestine war: Israel's endgame is much more sinister than restoring 'security' | Middle East Eye – Richard Falk

"This ongoing war is not primarily about security in Gaza or security threats posed by Hamas, but rather about something much more sinister and absurdly cynical.

Israel has seized this opportunity to fulfill Zionist territorial ambitions amid 'the fog of war' by inducing one last surge of Palestinian catastrophic dispossession. Whether it is called 'ethnic cleansing' or 'genocide' is of secondary importance, although it already qualifies as one of the biggest humanitarian catastrophes of the 21st century"

Note : In 2008, the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) appointed Falk to a six-year term as a United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967

(@HaMokedRights): "New data: Israel Prison Service is holding 6,809 Palestinians: This includes 2,070 administrative detainees - an unprecedented number; & 105 "unlawful combatants" (details below) It does NOT include some 4,000 Gaza workers - so actually Israel holds about 11,000 Palestinians" | nitter

"You can compare the new data to previous months here: https://hamoked.org/prisoners-charts.php TL;DR There has been a huge increase => 1,500 new detainees, almost all of them from the West Bank

🇵🇸 To Shoot an Elephant. (English Subtitles) 2009

Gaza Strip has been under siege since June 2007, when Israel declared it an "enemy entity". A group of international activists organized a siege-breaking movement, the Free Gaza movement. Thanks to their efforts, and despite the Israeli ban on foreign correspondents and humanitarian aid workers to cover and witness operation "Cast Lead" on the ground, a group of international volunteers: self organised members of the International Solidarity Movement were present in Gaza when the bombing started on December, 27th 2009. Together with two international correspondents from Al Jazeera International (Ayman Mohyeldin and Sherine Tadros), they were the only foreigners who managed to write, film and report for several radio stations what was happening inside the besieged Palestinian strip.

🇵🇸 Evidence Of War Crimes During Israel's August 2022 Gaza Offensive | Amnesty Int

On 5 August 2022, Israel launched a three-day offensive on occupied Gaza, visiting fresh trauma and destruction on a besieged population living under apartheid. Apparent war crimes were committed by Israeli forces and Palestinian armed groups, and 17 children were killed.
Israel’s apartheid remains the root cause of Palestinians’ suffering and the recurring violations against them and must be dismantled.
Read our new briefing ‘THEY WERE JUST KIDS’ to see how we gathered evidence of unlawful attacks in Gaza and to learn more about the impact of Israel’s apartheid on Palestinians.

🇵🇸 More than 1,000 craters: satellite images show destruction of northern Gaza Strip | The Guardian –

In one area – just half a kilometre wide – a group of residential blocks has been bombed so severely that about 100 craters, some as large as 45ft (13.9m), are visible.

At least one hospital and three schools in the area have been rendered out of service, apparently due to a nearby bombing. Other buildings in the image, taken on 30 October, have been levelled entirely and reduced to rubble.

🇵🇸 Scholars’ consensus: Genocide in Gaza marks turning point, Israel must be held accountable | Euro Med Monitor

Geneva – The characterisation of Israeli actions in Gaza as genocide by UN experts and international legal scholars should mark a turning point, Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor said today, in a call for Israel to be held accountable for its crimes.

Israel has a long history of committing acts of genocide against the Palestinian people, including the 1948 murder and mass displacement of Palestinians (#Nakba), as well as military occupation for more than 50 years, which has resulted in the establishment of an #apartheid regime ruling the Palestinian people and repeated military assaults on Gaza, which sparked the Israel’s ongoing, extremely violent chapter in Palestinian history.

🇵🇸 Jenin Jenin | 2002

Directed and co-produced by Palestinian actor and director Mohamed Bakri

The story began in April 2002, when the Israeli #Occupation Forces invaded the Palestinian #refugee camp in Jenin, leveled it to the ground, killed more than seventy people and buried civilians alive in their demolished homes and smoldering buildings.

During #OperationDefensiveShield, the "#IOF" refused to allow journalists, human rights and humanitarian organizations into the camp. Jenin remained sealed for days after the invasion.

Bakri was among the first to enter the camp after the massacre and collect oral testimonies from local residents in Jenin. His Jenin Jenin came to narrate the story of the ruined camp and the #massacre's survivors.

On 23 June 2002, the film's Executive Producer, Iyad Samoudi, was killed in #Alyamoun at the end of the filming by Israeli soldiers. Bakri continues to receive death threats. The war on #Jenin continues to this very day."

🇵🇸 Breaking the Silence › Publications

Breaking the Silence is an organization of veteran soldiers who have served in the Israeli military since the start of the Second #Intifada and have taken it upon themselves to expose the public to the reality of everyday life in the Occupied Territories. We endeavor to stimulate public debate about the price paid for a reality in which young soldiers face a civilian population on a daily basis, and are engaged in the control of that population’s everyday life. Our work aims to bring an end to the occupation.

🇵🇸 Activestills Collective

Activestills collective was established in 2005 by a group of documentary photographers out of a strong conviction that photography is a vehicle for social and political change.

The collective views itself as part of the international and local struggle against all forms of oppression, racism and discrimination. It is composed of Israeli, Palestinian and international photographers, operating locally in Palestine/Israel and abroad.

Activestills approaches the region between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea as one, working to expose the most blatant attack on human rights and freedom within these borders: the Zionist settler-colonial project led by Israel against the Palestinian population.

One of our main topics of documentation is the various forms of resistance against the colonial project, on both sides of the Green Line.
