🇵🇸 Special Rapporteur Says Israel’s Unlawful Carceral Practices in the Occupied Palestinian Territory Are Tantamount to International Crimes and Have Turned it into an Open-Air Prison | OHCHR - July 2023
Currently, there were 5,000 Palestinians in Israeli prisons, including 160 children, and approximately 1,100 of them were detained without charge or trial. Her report did not condone any acts of violence committed by Palestinians, while living under an unlawful occupation or in their pursuit to end it.
However, it must be acknowledged that most Palestinians had been convicted through a series of violations of international law, such as discrimination, persecution, and breaches of due process and for ordinary acts of life and in the exercise of legitimate civil and political rights.
A widespread and systematic arbitrary deprivation of liberty of Palestinians was a structural component of their subjugation.

Geneva – In a new statement following the revelation that the United States has supplied Israel with 100 2,000-pound “bunker buster” bombs since the start of Israel’s genocide in the Gaza Strip on the Gaza Strip, Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor condemned the US action.
The aforementioned weapons are fortification-piercing bombs, with a warhead (BLU-109) that is known for its ability to deeply penetrate fortified structures before detonating and causing significant casualties among civilians. As such, their use is strictly forbidden in civilian and residential areas, Euro-Med Monitor said.

Human rights groups are challenging the Dutch government in court, arguing it is complicit in alleged Israeli violations of international law in Gaza by supplying F-35 fighter jet parts.
The suit, brought by Oxfam Novib, PAX and The Rights Forum, comes after a Dutch newspaper reported that the government allowed a delivery of the components despite foreign ministry lawyers warning that Israel was committing serious violations of humanitarian law.

Palestinians have long used the term to describe the reality of their lives under Israeli rule. Developments in recent years and the intense Israeli bombardment in Gaza in the wake of Hamas’attack on October 7 has brought this question into the mainstream.
Apartheid is a particularly severe form of institutional discrimination and systematic oppression based on race or ethnicity, and is prohibited by #InternationalLaw. While apartheid was coined in relation to South Africa, international treaties, including the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, UN resolutions, and many countries’ domestic laws define it as a universal legal term that applies globally.
#Apartheid is also a crime against humanity, as set out both in the 1973 International Convention on the Suppression and Punishment of the Crime of Apartheid and the 1998 Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.
