๐Ÿ“ฉ Question:

The questioner says: Is it obligatory to say the takbeer (Allahu Akbar) when prostrating for the prostration of recitation in the prayer, when going down and coming up, and what is the evidence for it?

๐Ÿ“ The answer:

Some of the scholars held the view that one should say the takbeer, similar to the takbir of transitioning (from one action to another) in the prayer, due to the generality of the hadith:
(ูƒุงู† ุงู„ู†ุจูŠ ุตู„ู‰ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุนู„ูŠู‡ ูˆุณู„ู… ูŠูƒุจุฑ ููŠ ูƒู„ ุฎูุถ ูˆุฑูุน)
"The Prophet (๏ทบ) used to recite the takbeer during every bending and raising"

And that which is closest is that it is not obligatory to say the takbeer for the prostration of recitation and it is not necessary, rather the closest view is that it should be left off, because it hasnโ€™t come in any authentic hadith that the takbeer is made with it (the prostration of recitation)

And the hadith which was stated before was only referring to the takbeer of transitioning, during the takbeers of the prayer.

And this is also from the reasons for there not being any differing with regards to those following behind the imam. For if the imam says the takbeer for the prostration of recitation, the people will think that he said the takbeer for the rukooโ€™. And perhaps the one who cannot see the imam doesnโ€™t even know if the takbeer was for the rukooโ€™ or the sujood, and differing occurs in this matter.

And the one who holds the view that the takbeer should be said, then they are not to be rebuked, as a group of scholars held this view. They used as evidence the generality of the hadith, and their view has some weight to it. However that which is closest according to us is to leave off the takbeer for the prostration of recitation, regardless if it's in the prayer or outside.

๐Ÿ“ฉ Question:

The questioner says: Should the imam prostrate the prostration of recitation in the quiet prayers? And do those praying behind him prostrate with him?

๐Ÿ“ The answer:

It is disliked for the prostration of recitation to take place in the quiet prayers, because it results in confusion between the people. They will think that he has made a mistake, so one person will glorify Allah, and another person will follow him, and another person will not follow him, and confusion will occur between the people.

However if it was willed that such took place, and the followers understood that he has prostrated the prostration of recitation, then they should follow him in that. And the chosen view is to not prostrate in the quiet prayers, this is disliked.
