Cue outrage across the political class, and the BBC ‘false claims’ regarding Starmer and his department's prosecution of Jimmy Savile. It is not the BBC's business to determine which claims are true or not; they are supposed to report the news. It was not a false claim Johnson made, and this is at the heart of the matter.
