Today is 26 July. This day is very special for socialists. It marks the attack by Fidel Castro on the Moncada Barracks, an event which ushered in the Cuban Revolution.

If you want to know more, get the Fidel Castro Handbook by George Galloway. It gives a full history of this great man, and his people.

👍 George Galloway says:

"For nearly 40 years I have been an activist-a militant-in the worldwide socialist movement. For me it has been a faith that never died or dimmed-even in the darkest days. I have fought on the streets for that movement, I have been arrested and carried away by policemen and thrown into cells. I have represented the socialist cause in the British parliament-elected five times, almost always against the odds.

I am a practical man. Though I respect the theorists, the observation that theory without practice is blind is always the one that appealed to me most. And, in my experience, when all is said and done, there's always a lot more said than done. That, above all, is why I have been drawn to study and try to understand those who have actually made a revolution. Those who heard Marx when he said the "philosophers have merely interpreted the world; the point, is to change it."

Garibaldi's great unification of Italy, Ho Chi Minh's defeat of first French then U.S. colonial rule, the Bolshevikii, Cromwell, Yasser Arafat, the French revolutionists, Gandhi, Nehru and the Indian Congress, the titanic Tito, Chairman Mao-these subjects are my bedside reading. For the last 20 years as a parliamentarian in the House of Commons, I have used every spare moment to learn from the experience of those who have wrested control from an old order and ushered in a new."

GB News presenter describes WPB as 'George Galloway's mob' ...

...Would Ofcom think that's an acceptable term to describe a popular (210,194 votes) democratic party?
26 July. Celebrate the Cuban Revolution!

"In the university, where I arrived simply with a rebel spirit and some elementary ideas of justice, I became a Marxist-Leninist and acquired the sentiments that over the years I have had the privilege never to have felt the slightest temptation to abandon." Fidel Castro
A great quote from party leader George Galloway. You will find the quote in the Introduction to his excellent book on the Cuban Revolution The Fidel Castro Handbook.

Labour are having a real moan, having been challenged over their pro-imperialist positions. They'd prefer their constituents to meekly accept genocide.

It is pretty pathetic. We are not aware of any candidate or party that suffered the targeted, violent attacks which we have suffered.

In Manchester our supporters were the victim of a hit and run attack in May, during the general election in Littleborough a female campaigner of ours was assaulted outside the polling station all caught on cctv. In Birmingham masked men attacked our canvassers with machetes and bats in Sutton Coldfield whilst we carried on our work.

No other party received this sort of violent harassment. The likes of Iqbal Mohamed and Jess Philips are members of a party giving its cover to a genocide. A violent, abusive, racist and corrupt Labour party, the enemy of working class people here in Britain and across the world.

210,194 votes against Nato, against imperialism, and war. That was never seen before in Britain. No socialist group ever came close. Even without a sitting MP they're still talking about us.

If we'd stood everywhere it would've been a million. That's quite the "mob".

The Workers Party national members council was held on Saturday and it's leadership programme was launched today in central Manchester. 59 branch secretaries and activists sat to discuss our work in the next period.

We placed on record our thanks to our national election coordinator Hoz and his team for the inspirational drive and enthusiasm with which they met the challenge of this hastily called General Election 2024.

The Workers Party, funded entirely by subscription, without the support of any trade union, stood candidates in 152 seats securing 210,194 votes on an anti-imperialist and socialist platform, a feat unparalleled in the history of the British labour movement. We note from history that the Labour Party's 1906 breakthrough came as a result of it's now publicly  known, but then secret arrangement, with the Liberal Party.

Any breakthrough for our party, a genuine socialist party, will not come with any assistance from the capitalists but rather our principled  denunciation of capitalism.

The difficulties, obstacles and failings identified in the report of our national election coordinator are considered with the utmost seriousness and we will take action to resolve those items which are in our power to resolve within our current resources, and to put in place those measures for the elimination of all the other shortcomings.

Thanks to all who contributed to a successful weekend.

Stinks.
The Workers Party National Members Council met on Saturday in Manchester. On Sunday it launched Round 1 of a Leadership Programme to help the party develop a new layer of leaders and activists.

It discussed the General Election performance and passed a number of important resolutions, two of which are listed in the article below. The most exciting is that we unanimously agreed to appoint George Galloway our candidate in any future by-election which may be called, anywhere in Britain.
