Ye Olde Cock Tavern 🍻
22 #FleetSt, #Temple, #London EC4Y @oldecocktavern

Said to be the most narrow pub front in London, this elegant 'Gin Palace' is a fine addision to #Britain's #Pubs.

#Edinburgh will forever be a reminder to me just how much culture #Britain still has to offer.

I adore #Scotland
The Sea Dog Table of #HardwickHall (with the Eglantine Table) is an elaborately carved table from around 1570-575. Crafted in #Paris, following a design by Jacques Androuet du Cerceau. It survives as one of the most important examples of 16th-century furniture in #Britain.

How Long Have #Britain's Buildings Been Listed? 🏛

We stumbled across a disturbing discovery which may explain why we've lost so much in comparison with all we could have saved. Our nation is a shadow of former self, here's why...

This FASCINATED me. Meet the 'Gebelein Man', from the Predynastic period, around 3500 BC, who was found in #Gebelein, #Egypt & naturally mummified in the dessert sun/sands for 5000 years! Detail such as his hair had me entranced. The man's death was caused…
The Mildenhall Great Dish

From the Cultures/period of the Romano-British (40s AD). The characters include the hero Hercules, drunk on wine, supported by two satyrs. This is a mesmerising, glorious relic from pre-Christian #Britain.

3D reconstruction of the Roman tavern in #Pompeii. It's from "Tabernas" like this that #Britain would gain its pubs during the Romano-British period. What began with wine ended in Beer.

The Fishpool Hoard of (15th century) discovered, in #Ravenshead#Nottinghamshire, is the largest hoard of medieval coins ever found in #Britain. Probably buried between 1463-1464, after the Battle of #Hexham in May 1464, (War of the Roses).

#Brentford High Street - A Tragic Tale Of Pub Decline - Including Alfred Pearce's Poem On Brentford's Pubs

(1080p version) for Telegram/Twitter

The example of Brentford's loss of Pubs is a frightening insight into the future of a very bland #Britain. The once bustling high street served the many dockers and traders who brought the place to life. Like most places in #London and it's suburbs, we've too many lost tales to ever truly tell. 🍻

Our Love for the Anglo-Celtic Isles

[1080p Edition for Telegram]
The climate of #Britain, #Ireland, and #Europe mightn't appeal to everyone. The unexplainable, magnetic connection we have for our true home is why #WeAreWhoWeAre 💚

Dougie MacLean – Auld Lang Syne
I've been to many countries that never gave me feeling of home what so ever. Being in Scotland and hearing the music that paints a picture of it's brilliance has always felt right.

As if a fish escaping it's bowl, nature calls us home one way or another.

These Isles and all therein belongs to us. Between one's love for London, England and the Isles in which we derive, it's clear that my home is by no means a static spot, but the entirety of the Anglo-Celtic Isles.

This pub and the stories linked to it are of incredible significance to the history of #Scotland, #Britain and the beauty of the written word. Join me as I briefly discuss what makes this pub and the subjects within so incredibly special. I've tried to keep it short but could have said so much more what with this public house being in such an iconic location.

#Edinburgh is no longer merely a city but a relic and example of how magnificent the entirety of #Britain would look if unspoilt by modern design.

This is #Thaxted Guildhall, a 15th Century Listed building built six hundred years ago. (Town St, Thaxted, #Dunmow, #Essex, #CM6) It stares at a beautiful town that, in turn, stares back at it. Nearly all of #England/#Britain could carry such charm if only we preserved it better.

#Britain's pubs have been important to us for much longer than this new, anti-social world of clubbing.
I (@VinnieSullivan) used to frequent this venue in my youth. After an evening in #Wanstead, #SouthWoodford or elsewhere, we'd often head to a club that had kept it's pub name. The Rising Sun (20 #Woodford new road) rested in a forested area of #Walthamstow tucked between #Leytonstone and #Woodford. My family once drank in the actual pub itself, I simply visited it's shadow in order to chat up women and have a decent enough reason to stay out late. Little did I realise that I, thinking as a mere youth, joined in the decline of #Britain's pubs. We all know that we cannot turn back time, but few of us truly learn from our mistakes in the hope of a better future. It's a short walk from where I was born (#WhippsCross hospital #Leytonstone, #London, #E11) and sits within the tree's of #Epping forest, a realm I know and love. This part of the forest named #GilbertsSlade. I remember the warmth I felt leaving in the early hours after a skinful upon seeing that I was within the forest I love.

The ‘Hoop & Grapes’ - 47 #Aldgate High St, Greater, #London, #EC3N

We traversed to the @HoopandGrapes_ to discuss its historical interest and importance within #London and #Britain's overall pub scene. This pub isn't simply important as a pub. It's an insight into the many buildings that once made up the #CityofLondon before the 'Great fire' of 1666. ChelseaDan5 and myself (@VinnieSullivan) were joined by the wonderful @TheWonderingEnglishman. Together, we looked at the building not only for its registered history but for the many unknown moments it must have seen. We'd like to thank the staff who were incredibly helpful, polite, and facilitating. Our view into the cellar/tunnel was very special and ensured we'll be singing the Hoops praises for years to come. We hope you'll join us on YouTube.

This glorious statue of Old Father #Thames symbolically sits on a grand building at Ten Trinity Square. His image is based with that of #Poseidon/#Neptune, the #Greek/#Roman god of the sea. This was the hillside where #Romans first made their main base in #Britain more than 2,000 years ago. This location, yards from the famous #TowerHill, is where the settlement of #Londinium first began. Now, this building is a 'Four Seasons Hotel', but once housed the headquarters of the Port of London Authority. Many great designs are, in fact, stolen from Rome/Greece. This Greco-Roman building isn't only an insight into Londons foundation but into the plagiarism of ancient architecture until this day. Many give credit to all the wrong places as opposed to admitting who set the highest standards. 🏛
