A spur unit (SU), also known as an electrical spur.

It is a hardware device installed between an electrical outlet and an electrical device.

This is to allow additional devices to be plugged into an outlet.

We can see it being used with washing machines, dish washers, or even with Fire alarm control panel.

We have 2 common types of this outlet as you can see in this photo, switched type and un-switched type.
