✅Inland Waterways Development Council (IWDC):

◾️Establishment: Formed in October 2023 by the Government of India.
◾️Purpose: Dedicated to the comprehensive development of inland waterways.
Aims to enhance the Inland Water Transport (IWT) ecosystem.

◾️Focus Areas:
-Improving cargo efficiency.
-Enhancing passenger movement.
-Promoting river cruise tourism.

◾️Participation: Involves active collaboration with States, Union Territories, and other Union Ministries.
◾️Leadership: Chaired by the Union Minister.
◾️Members: Includes representatives from State Governments/UTs and other Union Ministries.
◾️Impact: Expected to boost cargo and passenger movement, and river cruise tourism in India.
