● Location: The mudflat ecosystem in Kadalundi, located on the southwest coast Kozhikode district of Kerala.

● In News: It is shrinking rapidly due to natural and anthropogenic factors.

● Mudflats : They are coastal wetlands that form when tides or rivers deposit mud. They are also known as tidal flats.

● In the early 2000s, Kadalundi's mudflats spanned approximately 8 hectares, but today it’s reduced to just about 1 hectare.
