● In news: NGT has given the UP government four weeks to inform it about the status of the Ramsar tag for Dhanauri wetlands.
● Location: Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
● It is a sanctuary for 23 species birds, with special significance as a habitat for the majestic Sarus crane.
● Sarus Cranes is the state bird of Uttar Pradesh & IUCN status is vulnerable.

● In news: Union Cabinet Approves Terms of Reference for Sixteenth Finance Commission
● Terms of Reference
1. Distribution of Tax Proceeds between union and state
2. The principles which should govern the grants-in-aid of the States out of the Consolidated Fund of India
3. The measures needed to augment the Consolidated Fund of a State to supplement the resources of the Panchayats and Municipalities.
4. The Commission may review the present arrangements on financing Disaster Management initiatives.
● 16th FC would cover the period of 5 years commencing April 1, 2026.

● With this, 15 elements from various parts of India have been inscripted to UNESCO’s representative list of ICH.
