Founded in 1966, the SMTA is the only non-profit independent professional music teaching association in Singapore. SMTA is headed by a committee that is elected from its members. Membership is open to all instrumental and voice teachers ranging from private studios to tertiary schools. Membership is a recognition and support of your teaching profession.

The SMTA is a meeting place for aspiring as well as practising teachers who desire to improve and enhance their current teaching methods and develop a great passion for teaching.

The SMTA aims to stimulate and inspire teachers to the utmost, to help teachers to create original teaching solutions through various kinds of brainstorming opportunities.

Registration fee for preliminary round: SGD$100 (SGD$80 for SMTA members’ students)

2021 4th SINGAPORE INTERNATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION (Jan 15th to Feb 5th)

Check out the 2021 SIPC (Singapore International Piano Competition) welcome message video from Artistic Director Mr WANG, Xiaohan.

The 4th edition takes on an online format. Pianists from concert level to amateurs are invited to participate. Wherever you are in the world, do send in your performance videos. Total prize money of USD$50,000.

SIPC: for competitors of accomplished concert pianist level
SIPC (Junior): for talented and professionally trained teenage and preteen pianists

1. Videos: Preliminary and final videos must meet the criteria listed below.
For the Finals, finalists may use the same Preliminary round video or submit a fresh recording.

2. Under Elementary Piano Study Category, replaced the "Volume" to "Level"

(a) Age-Based Categories: Two pieces
(b) Elementary Piano Study Categories: Two pieces
(c) Concerto & Two Pianos Categories: One piece
(d) Theme-Based Categories: One piece

2. For the Finals, finalists may use the same preliminary round video or submit a fresh recording of the same pieces.
