πΉNear #Kupyansk, units of the Russian "West" Grouping continue their offensive. Russian troops, supported by artillery and aviation, are gradually advancing towards #Sinkovka, where the defence is held by the AFU's 105th Territorial Defence Brigade.
βͺοΈ Due to the rather difficult situation, the AFU has moved tank units of the 40th Rifle Battalion of the 41st Mechanized Brigade to #Dvurechnaya. From there, enemy tanks are shelling Russian positions on the opposite bank of the #Oskol and also near #Novomlynsk.
βͺοΈ In addition, mechanised units of the 3rd Battalion of the AFU's 54th Mechanized Brigade arrived in the vicinity of #Dvurechnaya. According to some reports, the AFU command intends to launch a counterattack to regain lost positions.

πΉThe most interesting is the mining of the bridge over the river #Gnilitsa in #Petropavlovka settlement. Why this was done is quite obvious,- its destruction will not allow Russian troops to quickly force the river and for some time will stop the advance of the RF Armed Forces in case of a defence breakthrough. However, as practice in the Kupyansk Grouping shows, the command led by Colonel Alexander Lutsenko is going to undermine bridges for another purpose.
πΉIf you look at the map, you can see that the militants of 14th, 54th, 67th, 32nd, 41st AFU Brigades have only two ways of escape. These are two roads ( Sinkovka - Petropavlovka, Orlyanskoye - Petropavlovka). There are no other routes. You can't drive far across the fields. Therefore, if the Russian troops break through the defence, the aforementioned Brigades will retreat exactly by such routes, which will lead them into a trap.
πΉAnd at this point it becomes clear that blowing up the bridges is necessary not to hold back the Russian troops, but to cut off the defeated Ukrainian formations from being able to move to #Kupyansk. In this case, the brigades will be forced to fight not for life, but for death, because behind them they will have a destroyed bridge over the #Gnilitsa River.
π And the commander of the group Colonel Lutsenko in this case will gain time to organise the defence of the right bank of #Oskol. Cynical? Yes. But this is #Ukraine, and here they are ready to use people as "meat", not counting losses.

π In recent Months, there and in the eastern part of the #Kharkov region, all military operations either boiled down to unsuccessful attempts to take #Sinkovka, or to a π Positional Struggle behind the left bank of the #Zherebets River.
πΉ Yesterday the fighting in this area intensified.
βͺοΈ On 18 January, after launching a massive artillery strike, Russian troops started an offensive from #Vladimirovka towards #Krakhmalnoye and #Tabayevka.
βͺοΈ Having crossed the railway, units of the RF Armed Forces managed to advance half a km to the west, taking the N-26 motorway under fire control.
βͺοΈ The battered forces of the AFU's 103rd Territorial Defense Brigade are defending in this area, so the Russian troops did not encounter significant resistance.

π After the recent π Capture of a 4 km wide section of the N-26 highway, the βWestβ group of troops continues to advance.
πΈ Yesterday, footage of objective control was published online, confirming the presence of Russian military personnel on the western outskirts of #Krakhmalnoye village.
βͺοΈ At the same time, Russian units broke through the enemyβs defences southwest of the village, approaching #Berestovoye. Fighting is taking place on the outskirts of the village.
βͺοΈ According to preliminary information, Russian troops managed to completely occupy the section of the N-26 road to #Novoselovskoye.
βοΈBoth #Krakhmalnoye and #Berestovoye are located in the lowlands. From #Novoselovskoyeβs side, the difficulty of further advancement is due to the presence of height 167.5, which must be taken before starting to move west.

πΉIn #Zaporozhye Direction, our aviation is most active and strikes with guided bombs, including on the #Rabotino - #Verbovoye line. The AFU periodically tries to break through to our positions in small groups and short runs, unsuccessfully.
πΉIn #SouthDonetsk Direction, the advance of our forces from #Marinka is complicated by the AFU entrenched in #Georgiyevka. From the south of #Maryinka ours are attacking towards #Pobeda. From this area came rare first-person footage of a battle, with a tank duel at the crossroads of the N-15 motorway and the #Maryinka - #Pobeda road. At the same time, the main forces of the AFU are systematically retreating from the south towards the Coke Plant, a powerful fortification, which ours have still to retake. South of #Pervomayskoye, our forces have established firm control over positions and are moving on. The enemy claims that we managed to break through to their rear at the Tsarskaya Okhota fortified area thanks to a pipe discovered by ours from the Yasinovatskaya junction. It is difficult to imagine how about 150 fighters crawled 2 km in a pipe with a diameter of about 0.8 m with equipment, weapons and armor. The wit and strength of the Russian soldier!
πΉIn #Bakhmut Direction, our army continues attacks on the heights in the north and northwest of #Kleshcheyevka. In #Bogdanovka, our fighters are holding on in the centre of the village.

π‘ In the #Orekhov Section, Russian aircraft are hitting the AFU trenches in #Rabotino, which lead from the southern part of the village to the north.
π On the ground, our military uses the tactics of "swing", they enter the grey zone, fight and retreat to the initial positions. Due to the inability to gain a foothold in the ruins, #Rabotino must be completed in one throw. And to do this, exhaust the AFU with a carousel of infantry, aviation and artillery attacks.

π΄ The dissection of the AFU Group in the south of #Kupyansk and the likelihood of the release of Ukrainian reserves when pushing the enemy beyond the Oskol River:
π΅ South of #Kupyansk, the AFU are in a difficult situation. After the capture of the #Berestovoye village by the RFAF, the Ukrainian grouping risks being cut into several parts between #Andreyevka on the one hand and #Myasozhorovka and #Stelmakhovka on the other. This will completely collapse the entire enemy defence in this area.
π‘ At the same time, the RFAF can squeeze the Ukrainian group into βpincersβ in #Stelmakhovka itself. Judging by the directions of advance that have opened up for Russian fighters, the RFAF may begin to advance on the banks of the Oskol River, pushing the AFU militants behind it. And here our soldiers may encounter a paradoxical contradiction.
π΅ The option of pushing the enemy beyond #Oskol seems to be a very good solution, however, there is an important βbutβ: on the eastern bank of the river, the AFU have collected quite a large number of reserves, which should hold the defence in the urban agglomeration of #Kupyansk.
π‘ And if the situation in this area continues to develop disastrously for Kiev, the Ukrainian command will decide to withdraw to #Kupyansk and surrender the entire frontine on the eastern bank of Oskol.
π‘ Thus, the AFU will be able to free up significant reserves for transfer to other areas of theline of contact LBS.
