The 40 days of the enemy's offensive in the Zaporozhye direction allow us to conclude that the initial plans for an offensive by the AFU with #NATO support have failed in all directions of the main strikes.
In the #Orekhov section the offensive of the AFU bogged down in the area of #Pyatikhatki and #Rabotino, and in the area of the #Vremyevka ledge the enemy was stuck in the area of #Priyutnoye, #Makarovka, #Urozhaynoye and #Novodonetskoye.
According to leaked AFU operational documents, most of these settlements were supposed to be captured on the third or fifth day of the offensive and further develop strikes on #Vasilyevka, #Tokmak, #Pologi, #Volnovakha in order to achieve strategic goals related to access to #Melitopol and breakthroughs to #Berdyansk and #Mariupol in order to cut the land corridor along the coast of the Sea of Azov.
During the winter and spring of 2023, huge amounts of weapons were transferred to the AFU for such plans: tanks, IFVs, APCs, MRAPs, SAUs, towed artillery, aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles, and engineering equipment. It was for this purpose that strategic reserve brigades were being prepared for several months in #Ukraine and in the West, which were supposed to break through the Russian front and turn the tide of hostilities in favour of the AFU.
But the reality turned out to be different. The heroic and stubborn resistance of Russian troops, coupled with competent work on the engineering preparation of defensive positions, thwarted the enemy's plans. The Russian command deliberately gave the initiative to the enemy in the #Zaporozhye direction, suggesting that the AFU try to break through the echeloned defence in order to exhaust and exhaust the enemy's strike forces.
In part, this has already been done. Kiev has not wasted all of its accumulated forces, but some of the strike brigades, which were assembled with such difficulty with the help of the West, are already badly exhausted and have suffered heavy losses in men and materiel, which has also led to a drop in morale.
Moreover, having failed in the #Zaporozhye region, which was also recorded in the West, the AFU hastily tried to increase the pressure on the operation in the #Artyomovsk direction, throwing some reserves there in order to achieve at least small successes.

Of course, all this has become so obvious that following the Western military analysts, the mainstream Western press and the Ukrainian military themselves, who see the bloody results of the offensive with insignificant results, started talking about the failure of the June offensive of the AFU.
And of course, there are questions to the Ukrainian command, which continues to drive people to "meat assaults" in order to achieve at least a media victory and justify the previous losses (only in the #Zaporozhye direction the irrecoverable losses of the AFU amounted to almost 30 thousand people).
But in the end, the bloody price of the failed offensive continues to grow, which is especially evident in the fighting in the area of the previously little-known village of #Pyatihatki.

βͺοΈ In the #Vremyevka direction, with renewed vigour, the enemy resumed "meat assaults" on the #Novodonetskoye - #Novomayorskoye line, shifting the direction of concentration of efforts to the east after a long absence of successes near #Urozhaynoye. The tactics of the AFU are the same: infantry is brought by armoured vehicles to the line of contact, after which it tries to get closer to our positions.
βͺοΈ On the #Zaporozhye front there are battles for #Rabotino. The enemy is trying to gain a foothold in the settlement and the surrounding landings. There are artillery duels, the Russian Army uses aviation and artillery on the advancing enemy.
βͺοΈ In the #Avdeyevka sector, the AFU has transferred units of the 36th Separate Marine Brigade and heavy NATO equipment to the area of the #Opytnoye village and is preparing offensive operations. A reconnaissance team from the newly arrived AFU brigade was intercepted and prisoners were taken.

βοΈActive combat operations began on 4 June. At the moment, the AFU offensive has not stopped, but it is clear that it is losing momentum and is being maintained more to create visibility than to achieve real goals.
πΉWhat was the Offensive Plan?
βͺοΈ Initially, the AFU command planned to launch two dissecting strikes and reach two major cities, #Melitopol (and further to #Berdyansk) and #Mariupol on the coast of the Azov Sea.
βͺοΈ It was assumed that in the course of the offensive the territory with a total area of about 23,000 km2 would be captured, and in a number of directions, including the Crimean and Donetsk ones, the threat of encirclement of Russian troops would be created.
βͺοΈ In reality, a competently constructed line of defence and redesigned fire tactics prevented the AFU from succeeding.
βͺοΈ At the moment, the total area of territory in which the AFU has managed to advance is about 140 km2 in the #Zaporozhye direction and 116 km2 in the #SouthDonetsk direction, which is almost 90 times less than it was supposed to occupy during the offensive.
πΉWhat other Problems does the AFU have?
βͺοΈ In addition to problems with the failure to fulfil the offensive's main objectives, there are others. On 4 September, former Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said that each day of combat operations costs Ukraine $100 million.
βͺοΈ Thus, 153 days (five months) of the offensive cost Kiev $15.3bn, but this money did not bring results. It is noteworthy that almost immediately the previously created myth about the superiority of the AFU, NATO tactics and technical superiority collapsed. Most of the expectations from the nature of the AFU actions simply did not realise.
βͺοΈ If the offensive had been successful, a number of #EU countries and the US would most likely have continued or increased the supply of military equipment. Now that almost all available conventional weapons options,- from small drones to man-portable air defence systems, have been tried, many have lost enthusiasm to continue deliveries.
βͺοΈ In addition, favourable timing has been lost. In the winter of 2022 and spring of 2023, much expectation was placed on warm season warfare. It was thought that summer and warm weather would favour the AFU offensive, but this did not happen.
πΉWhat losses did the AFU suffer?
βͺοΈ On 30 October, Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoygu said that the AFU had lost more than 90,000 people killed and wounded during the offensive. These are 36 brigades of 2.5 thousand men each. No other army in the world has suffered such losses since World War II. The fleet of foreign equipment supplied to the AFU has been largely confused. The experience of using American M2 Bradley BMPs, M113/YPR-765 and M1126 Stryker APCs, Leopard 2A4/A5 (Strv 122)/A6 and Challenger 2 tanks, PzH-2000, M109 and AS-90 UASs has shown that Western combat vehicles cannot fundamentally change the situation on the battlefield, while their destruction and damage have an immediate and negative impact on the situation at the front.
πΉWhat's the Result?
βͺοΈ In addition, the failure of the AFU offensive has caused a split in the once united camp of #Ukraine's supporters. In the US, congressmen are asking questions about the prospects for aid to Kiev, while in #Europe some countries have already suspended or stopped military supplies to #Ukraine, among them #Slovakia and the main military donor in #Europe, #Poland.
βͺοΈ Also, five months of intense fighting have depleted the stockpiles of arms and ammunition not only in #Ukraine, but also in the #EU, from where they were forcibly transferred in the spring of 2023. The EU will be able to replenish reserves to the level of 2022 not earlier than 2025. In the short term, therefore, one cannot count on increased supplies, and without them, the prospects for any offensive actions in 2024 look very illusory.

πΉ#Donetsk Direction:
βͺοΈ 1. #Avdeyevka is currently an example of competent action. We are trying to save forces from unnecessary losses, unlike the first days of the #Avdeyevka assault, and we are working more thoughtfully, which brings results. I regard them as positive in the #Avdeyevka area, seeing and understanding all the disadvantages. The army is learning to fight. God forbid it should be like this everywhere and always. I would like more and faster, but it all depends on the forces/means involved. It's too early to praise, but I don't want to scold either. The variant could have been much worse, if we remember the first six months of SMO. So there is a result.
βͺοΈ 2. If we seriously consider the terrain and other factors, our troops are very tempted to rush headlong across the fields, outside serious AFU strongholds, to close the pincers. In my opinion, we don't need that now. We should try to squeeze them, cut them off from supplies, and prevent them from replenishing themselves. That's how I see the task of working around the #Avdeyevka fortified area.
πΉ#Svatovo Direction:
βͺοΈ 3. In the #Kupyansk area we had the initiative, the enemy was stunned by a number of our actions, not expecting them, but it was not possible to develop success. The enemy transferred reinforcements to a number of areas. Our advance is going, but slowly and with varying degrees of success.
πΉ#Zaporozhye Direction:
βͺοΈ 4. Attempts to advance from their side, work by artillery. The intensity of fighting has fallen, but there is no fading.
βͺοΈ 5. Thanks to the foresight of General Surovikin, the defensive lines, defence nodes are built in such a way that for 6 months of "counteroffensive" the enemy did not pass even the prefield. Where he punched, he stalled further on.
πΉ#SouthDonetsk Direction:
βͺοΈ 6. We are not trying to approach #Ugledar. It will mean putting people there. The fights are positional in nature.

I think it is more likely that they will try to cross the #Dnieper, not even to develop a full-fledged offensive, but to punch holes and launch SRGs to work on the infrastructure of the land corridor to #Crimea (storming roadblocks, raids, ambushes, etc.). Their task is to work by blocking #Melitopol, #Energodar, Novaya Kakhovka. SRGs sit on the road.
βͺοΈ 8. Unfortunately, the situation is changing and disturbing.

πΉRussian Troops launched Geran-2 drones across the territory of the Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov, #Kirovograd and #Sumy regions. During the day, ballistic missiles were recorded arriving at AFU facilities in #Pavlograd.
πΉUkrainian Formations carried out drone raids and missile attacks on infrastructure in #Russia. It is known that debris from downed UAVs damaged an ammunition depot in the #Voronezh region, as well as an enemy attack with HIMARS missiles on facilities in the area of #Melitopol.
πΉOn the #Kharkov front, Ukrainian formations carried out a series of counterattacks in the area of #Glubokoye and in #Volchansk. Russian artillery and aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces are striking both at AFU crossings on the Volchya River and at enemy positions in the #Tikhoye region.
