It has come to our attention that some participants at KWSC have been using the KWSC awning shelter roof truss members to do pull-ups.

The KWSC awning is now out of alignment, causing its roof to become undulating. We noticed some of the roof supporting truss is coming off from the wall. This is probably due to the pulling force exerted on its connecting bolts from the pull-up actions. We have tightened the connecting bolts as best as we can but if we do not prevent the root cause (i.e. force exerted from the pull-up action), some of the truss may come off completely.

This is therefore a safety hazard and we would like to seek the DB community full cooperation to inform their members and other people (if they encounter as much) not to use the roof truss for their pull ups.
This weekend, Sat 15 and Sun 16, SDBA is conducting a survey on how many teams and dragon boats are operating out from Nursery. Our official, in the red SDBA "Official" shirt will be watching teams. He may also approach you for some information. Please be nice and help him along.
SDBA need the data to counter PUB's proposed 50-pax limit on water per training session.

Dear Affiliates and Associates

For all those Affiliates who have RSVP-ed, thank you for doing so however please note that the meeting is now cancelled.

PUB-SDBA SURVEY ON DRAGON BOAT MOVEMENT IN MARINA RESERVOIR

SDBA together with PUB will be conducting a survey to understand the usage of reservoirs by dragon boats.

Objectives
- To determine where is the concentration of dragon boats in the reservoir at a given time
- To identify the transit route and/or circuit pattern used by dragon boats

A total of fifteen (15) trackers (see image above) have been placed at Kallang Water Sports Centre. We appreciate teams to volunteer to partake in this survey. Teams will have to collect and register the tracker for each boat that they are launching from nursery before the start of each training session with our Supervisor, Mr Robert Poon.

Examples:-
Team A launching 2 boats from Nursery, two trackers will be issued.
Team B launching 1 boat from Nursery for two different training sessions (Eg. 1 tracker will be issued for 8am to 10am while another tracker will be issued for 4pm to 6pm)
FATE OF CENTURY RACE & DBSMR

Thank you for your patience. We deliberated long and hard on the fate of the Century Race. Whatever the decision, there will be a snowball effect on the entire race program from March onwards. So we are trying to come up with the best solution for the community.

Century Race 2020
As of 28th February 2020, this event originally scheduled on 15th & 16th March is currently still postponed. However, we will keep the event in view and we will make a final decision by end of March if we could run the event in other feasible months of 2020.

DBSMR 2020
Remain status quo as per the previous email (i.e. fate shall be announced by DBS latest by 27 March)
SDBA BASIC HELM COURSE 29.02.2020

Please note that the classroom venue for the theory has been moved to KWSC.

This is due to SportSG re-acquiring the seminar rooms for an urgent matter
SINGAPORE NATIONAL BUDGET

Regarding the national budget debate, SDBA has feedback to the government regarding businesses affected by the Covid19.

Due to program cancellations, SDBA will experience low to even zero income during the months of February & March. Some of our associates will also be heavily affected as they themselves faced program cancellations and low to zero take-up rates for their services.

But the worse and hardest hit are our freelance coaches, trainers and steerspersons. As programs get cancelled, so become zero employment for them. Although there are not that many, these people are essential to dragon boat operations. They may be forced to leave the sport as they will need to seek more permanent and stable employment elsewhere.

Apart from SDBA's own plight, we are also championing the plight of our associates and freelancers. We are hopeful that the government is able to provide some form of aid or relief packages to them as well. At the moment, SDBA will do what we can within reasonable financial means to keep dragon boat operations running.
