Fourth in the Russian rating and 22nd in the world rating is the Polytechnic Supercomputer Center 🔥

The Center was opened in 2015 to help Polytechnic scientists solve complex problems in the field of natural science research using the unique computing power of the Supercomputer. It has high-performance computing systems of different architectures with a total peak performance of more than 1.2 PFlops (petaflops - quadrillion floating-point operations per second, or 1,000 teraflops).

⚡️ The Polytech supercomputer has been used to calculate the system of emergency rescue of astronauts, combustion in weightlessness, a presidential limousine, and the first plasma of ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor).

👍 Today, the Polytechnic Supercomputer Center is used not only by scientific teams of Polytechnic, but also by researchers from other universities, large industrial companies, and scientists conducting scientific research that requires the use of high-performance computing systems.

Today is a very important day for all citizens from Leningrad.

81 years ago, during the "Iskra" offensive operation, the ring of the fascist blockade of Leningrad was broken. For the whole world 900 days of the Blockade is an example of unbending fortitude, will to live, devotion to one's city and country! An example, the memory of which we are obliged to preserve for centuries, and to do our best to make the descendants of those who gave their lives in the fight against fascism worthy of this feat!

Thousands of polytechnics were among the heroes who fought for Leningrad. In this photo from 1941, polytechnics as part of the 3rd division of the Leningrad People's Militia Army go to the front as volunteers. And those who stayed in the besieged city, built defence barriers, worked on fulfilling military orders, made the most important scientific contribution to the approaching Victory!
