SPbPU postgraduate student from Kazakhstan on the development of Alzheimer's disease treatment 🧠
Nikita Zernov is a postgraduate student of the Institute of Biomedical Systems and Biotechnologies from Kazakhstan.
💬 I graduated from the Master's program at Polytechnic, and here I decided to grow further in the scientific direction. I work in the Laboratory of Molecular Neurodegeneration.
Nikita is one of the winners of the Best International Grant for PhD (BIG PhD) competition.
💬 The BIG PhD competition gives full resources for the realization of research activities. Of course, I had some doubts about winning - there are many foreign PhD students at Polytechnic University, and it was clear that only the most promising projects would receive financial support. Nevertheless, I decided to participate, and I was among the best.
At Polytechnic, Nikita and the Laboratory team are developing a pharmacological solution for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.

This is the second joint project of the international school of two leading technical universities. This year the participants - Chinese students of the Northwestern Polytechnical University will be trained on the program "Polymer composites and additive technologies".
The first week of training will be held at MAI, where students will learn about the main types of binders and fillers used in composite materials, as well as their advantages and disadvantages.
The second part of the program will take place on the basis of Polytechnic. Students will learn about additive manufacturing, which is increasingly used in a wide variety of industries, including the technology of electric arc growth of metal parts from wire.

The blockade lasted from 8 September 1941 to 27 January 1944. The Germans aimed to break the resistance of the defenders of Leningrad and capture it, but were defeated.

Did you know that the famous science fiction writer Nick Perumov is a graduate of Polytechnic?
In 1986, Nikolai (Nick) Perumov graduated from the Department of Biophysics, Faculty of Physics and Mechanics.
He was engaged in molecular immunology. He participated in the development of treatment methods for victims of the Chernobyl accident.
In the late 1970s he became interested in fantasy, read in the original and translated books by John Tolkien. At the same time, Nikolai himself began to write. The book was published under the title "The Ring of Darkness", it is believed that it marked the beginning of Russian fantasy.
Nick Perumov began to invent his own worlds, but as a physical engineer he tried to make sure that the fairy tale universe also obeyed physical laws, like the existing universe.
In 2004 he was recognized as the best science fiction writer in Europe.
