Now let us look at the masterpiece of medieval Moldavian architecture - the Resurrection Catholicon of the Suceviţa Monastery, a combination of Central European Gothic and Byzantine tradition, which is present only in Romanian architecture.
Like the catholicon decorated with frescoes inside and outside, the monastery was built under the care of the Movilă family - it was from this monastery that Saint Peter Movilă, Metropolitan of Kiev, one of the saviours of the Russian Church in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, who strengthened Orthodoxy against Catholic oppression, would later emerge.

"The angel cried to the Lady Full of Grace: Rejoice, O Pure Virgin!
Again I say: Rejoice!
Your Son is risen from His three days in the tomb!
With Himself He has raised all the dead!
Rejoice, all you people!
Shine! Shine! O New Jerusalem!
The Glory of the Lord has shone on you!
Exalt now and be glad, O Zion!
Be radiant, O Pure Theotokos,
in the Resurrection of your Son!"
